I completely understand your take on Allie and Kramer. I have thought about it several times. But they are great in the outfield. Fast, great gloves and great arms. These save a lot of hits and runs. I think these are the reasons Coach leaves them in the lineup. It DOES stick out when we really need a hit and they do not come through, in really low scoring games, etc.. Note that Coach has PH'ed them a few times this year. She wants some hits but does not want to give up their defensive abilities.

Note that Kelsey Mathis had two PH AB's this weekend. She has put her in as a PR several times, too. She was an awesome hitter and outfielder in HS. Just a wild guess but Coach 'might' have her in mind to stick her out there in one or more of the upcoming non-conference games. I think we might, just might, see a few small lineup changes like this in these non-conference games. It's the last chance to try out new girls before the SEC minefield starts up again. And some coaches might like to do that to give a starter a quick mental 'kick' - "hey, we DO have other players".

On Lefty in the 6th. I completely understand you there, too. I wrote a long comment above (I know, sometimes I write too much!) on that. I would not have put in Leavitt or Grace or freshman Munnerlyn. Only Sidne or Lessentine because they have both proven themselves this year. But I would go with Lessentine first because she throws strikes. I DID forget to add to my long post that Coach knows way more than I do about softball in general and pitching in particular. She knows her girls. She trusts her pitchers. She trusts her instincts. This is the third season with Lefty. IF I was the coach, and I am certainly NOT, I would have put in Lessentine. Early. But Coach has the pulse of the team and her players. She is the pitching coach. I will not criticize her for any call because I think she is great and knows what she is doing. But I am a huge fan of the game and I always like playing the 'what if' game. So, is it possible for me to question the call while at the same time not criticizing it? I think so - because it is what I am doing!

The what if game is what fans are best at. I think Ford is the best softball coach we have ever had (I know Bob Brock won 2 national championships but the game was so different then) and I trust her going with her ace to try and close out a big home series win. I think what you are doing is completely fair while others are just plain ignorant.

I think the first thing the coach said in the postgame radio interview was that she should have pulled Kennedy sooner. With Kennedy's history vs the rest of the staff the past couple of years, I think it is still an adjustment for coach to have the same confidence in the new pitchers that she does in Emiley. Lefty certainly has earned that over years and the rest of staff is just beginning to earn that over a few weeks. Hopefully lesson learned.

Hats off to Grace, Sidne and Sidney for what they were able to do this weekend against a quality SEC team.

Kennedy seemed to have some sort of brace or compression sleeve on her ankle. I think that answers why she didn't pitch on Friday. In that 6th at some point she landed awkwardly on that ankle and really struggled the rest of the inning. Hitters run together in my mind but I think it was the 1st hitter after the grand slam. She limped off the field at the end of the inning. Hopefully another few more days of rehab can get her comfortable again. As much as I have complete confidence this tram can handle the next 6 games without her I have less confidence she can sit 2 weeks and be her best when she returns. She seems to be better the more she pitches.

The 6 games should also be good for helping a few struggling bats get back on track. We are so more dangerous when Allie, KK and Kramer are hitting. Looking forward to it

"Axe to grind" nope just have my own opinions and view on game. No axe, been around the game for many years and have my own thoughts. Don't most fans think we know better than the coaches. I have been a long time reader of the Aggie thread just never posted before. I was happy to see Coach bring in more arms this years and have been surprised we haven't used them more. I'm no threat, Aggie softball fan here!

We all welcome fan discussion so if there's no agenda behind your posting then by all means let it fly. It's ok to be negative and critical when it's warranted.

We have a habit of drawing family members of players who've been wrankled by the current staff for whatever reason that make accounts and ***** and moan, so I'm always on guard. It's pretty easy to tell actually.

Saying the coach made a mistake is fine imo. Attacking her character and saying she is selfish seemed over the top to me, for one of the few coaches on campus I'm still giving the benefit of the doubt. No need to make it personal, which is what you did.

And you are a new poster. No need for saying things like she is 'selfish'. If that's what you are going to bring, Th rn go hang out in the football and baseball boards.

ETA: I think I misread your post and that was directed at the rook above. If so then yes, I absolutely agree.

While walking from the game, a bama fan told me we have too many weapons. I said a kind word to him also.

In general the Bama fans are one of my favorite visitors. They root for their team and generally behave otherwise. Can't say the same for the cajun army that invade next series.

The Bama family behind us was very nice, only cheered for Alabama, no jeering. The only thing they complained about were the concession prices haha

I complain about the same thing. We are so much higher on concessions than anyone else. Have to be the only place that beer is cheaper than soda

I love this team. Their grit, determination, and fight for each other is what is will make this team so special. Coach Ford was the right person to come in here and get this program back on track. Lefty had a rough day in the circle, but this team fought back for her. Maybe seeing how the team has her back will help Lefty relax and get back to the Lefty we all know..

I had just commented to my daughter in the 5th that was the most relaxed and happy I had ever seen Emiley in a game.

The 6th was a different animal and I think the ankle played a part. Maybe not early but later when she tried to work out of it

Having Grace and Sidne and Sidney pull the load all weekend will probably only drive her more to be her best self.

If the bats can get out of the funk this team is in good shape

Yes, she did look more relaxed early in the game. I agree that ankle might have had something to do with the rough 6th inning. I love watching her pitch, but I am glad we are much deeper at that position this year.

Women's tennis and golf, too.

Tennis won the national championship last year and are doing very well again this year. Have some really good players coming in to go along with Lexington Reed, our only freshman this year, so looks to continue in the future.

Women's golf is also doing well. Won the individual national championship last year and have a really good freshman and sophomore. Check out the freshman this year:

And the freshmen coming in next year (#1, #4, #5 and #52 in the country) certainly looks like great teams in the future:
