Agree, but Schloss didn't like A&M in general (personally he never fit the moral code). It was literally months into HC gig he was "commenting" all things A&M and was suggesting changes at both football and baseball games (several articles and interviews early on had red flags and no one was awake).
Moral code.... We hired Jimbo Fisher and Jackie Sherril.

As far as suggested changes, maybe we should have listened to him. Everyone talks about the "culture" holding the teams back. Part of that is resistance to change. If the AD hadn't fired his people and taken care of some of his asks, I don't think he would have left. Now, the way he went, sure, he's a dick, but everyone here would rather him still be our dick.

We'll never know. Even if we gave him everything he asked I think he was gone regardless of what we did. The rumors were swirling before we fired his buddies.

I'll always wonder how the impending move and swirl behind the scenes negatively impacted the championship series. Maybe it didn't cause the loss but surely it was a distraction, if not outright harmful.

If we never win and he never wins in Austin, that seems like it could be a haunting thing. Plus the likelihood of going back this year for another shot.

There was not much more that could be done. Full stop.

Now that we have that out of the way. It was a bad sign that we hired a guy that high tailed it over to Austin with the rest of the bunch. It wasn't until we offered an outrageous and undeserved promotion that he came back. Even Earley knew he wasn't qualified for the job. If he did, he would have walked into Trev's office and asked for the job before he announced he was leaving. Truth is, he very likely never thought in his wildest dreams he would get the job.

Schloss and CDC did the absolute best thing for them, they went to Austin, annihilated the program that was far and way the better program in the last 5-6 years, main rival and set us back years. Them being a solid team this year is just an added bonus. I doubt they ever even considered that our return cannon shot was going to be taking one of his assts. to be the head shed. I suspect as they strategized about this, they considered what would happen if none of the assts followed him, or if we did the unthinkable and hired Vitello (et al), but Michael Earley getting the job was not even on the board. The only thing we really accomplished here was that we didn't stock their team with our players and accelerate their ascendance back to prominence. Course at this point, not sure that counts for much. This could not have gone any better for them. Literally.

Chalk it up and line up the next dude...

Can't wait until karma comes to town, because it will. And when it does it will bring hell with him.

Unbelievable those that think things would be different if Grahovic and Sorrell were playing. It's not Mike Schmidt amd Willie Mays people. If your paying attention it's the top end returners like LaViolet, Kent, and Schott who aren't performing. So who is responsible for this when they are all not performing. It's not just one of them.

All writers and coaches thought we were unanimous #1. This is because of the incoming talent to pair with kids already here. Two kids are not the difference between #1 and dead last in conference.

If you think about it, if we have won it would make him look like an idiot for leaving. I was there and noticed a less animated coach. There were several pictures or video showing him staring into space. Vitello was working the umps all 3 games, he really wasn't. He just looked like a jerk for leaving, which is a step below idiot. His ego wouldn't allow it.

The man had never made it to the championship series either with TCU.

I would sure like to hear some examples of this. I never heard it and had many conversations with Schloss while he was here. Don't think it had anything to do to do with him leaving.

A head coach will always get the most blame for W's and L's but a head coach in baseball maybe more than any other sport beside hockey possibly does by far the least that has an effect on on the game. Outside of a bonehead pitching change or some sort of called braindead offensive call when at the plate they do very very little. More is done in practice, and to give you some ground breaking insight, these guys aren't being coached to go up there and watch pecker high fastballs then swing at sliders 3 feet out of the zone. If Schloss was still here we'd all including him be pissed at the players for lack of performance but because we are in a situation with a new coach, it's his fault. At some point the paid men with the metal sticks in their hands have to perform instead of dodging the criticism.

Some of us believe that if Schloss were here this team would not be struggling the way they are. Teams take on the personality of their head coach. Schloss is a proven elite level head coach and turns teams around immediately everywhere he goes.
As much as I hate to say it, this team would have many more wins if db was still here. He'd take this team to Omaha.

Wasn't there a big kerfuffle about cheerleaders or dance teams on the dugout or something?

Not to hire an unproven HC with zero experience chosen by 18-22 year old kids? For starters that is…
I have the olds and don't remember things very well, but I don't recall much pissing and moaning when the hire went down. We all knew this was the path to keep the guys out of the portal. It was a gamble, and so far, has been a terrible decision. But if a proven guy was hired, it would have mostly likely been a rebuild due to portal. I'm guessing here, because who knows who would have stayed/left.

So what do you choose?

A) Take the risk with an unproven coach, but keep all/most of your guys
B) Get a proven coach, but risk losing most/some of your guys.

A - because the portal was picked over and if we were willing to cut bait immediately if the season doesn't turn around. The timing of the hiring was the worst possible. I think it would have been difficult to pull a top coach w/o a ton of money. We would have to overpay because the new guy would be behind as well - unless if it was Vitello. Nothing about this was normal. It was all orchestrated to cause maximum damage.
This right here. Drunk CDC and Coach Mother ****er knew this would totally **** over A&M. Can't wait until karma smacks them in their little smug ass faces.

Absolutely correct. The deal was done in prior weeks - the "what do you mean aggie fans are upset?" schtick was just that. This was supposed to crater aggie baseball, which has overnight gone from routinely beating tu wherever we play and being a force in the sec to what we have today.
