Maybe the Baseball team will make it a tradition.

The 1967 football team only won 7 games.

In 1968, we finished 6th in conference.

The '67 team lost the first 4 games by a combined 19 points and 3 of the losses were to pretty good teams. I don't think this year's baseball team played even that well out of the gate.

The wins, on the other hand, that year were by roughly 10 points per game. However, the SWC wasn't all that good in '67. It was far better the next year.

They both started slow out of the gate. The '67 football team started 0-4 and 0-1 in conference, and then went on to will it all. There were no play-offs. There were only 4 major bowls, and the SWC conference champs went to the Cotton Bowl. The 7-0 finish resulted in a rare (in those days) win over the sips, the outright conference championship, and an appearance in the Cotton Bowl resulting in a win over Coach Bear Bryant's tide.
.
I'm hoping at the end of this baseball season, this year's baseball results will be analogous to that.

perhaps the best baseball example is the 1995 team

after 31 games...the '95 squad was stumbling around at 17-13-1 and 3-4 in the SWC

but then caught fire at the end of March and finished 44-22-1 and 15-9 in conference

made it to the second regional championship game vs. Miami (under the old format)

All true, but that team also came really close to starting 0-5. They beat Tech in Lubbock for their first win when Ed Hargett scrambled into the end zone on the game's last play (I think it was the last play).

That saved the season. I wonder if we'll look back on the 9th inning of game 3 vs USCe the same way. If the Aggies had been routed that day then would the players start thinking that DH against UT was a flash in the pan?

Yes. The Ed Hargett touchdown was the last play as time ran out.

But, also, look at their first 4 games, they should have won 3 of those.
