Wow, that really puts it all into perspective.

A team like this cannot be swept. at home. by the worst team (in the history of) the conference.

If it's not coaching, what is it? And how do we win series at ARK, LSU, and UTenn on the road if talent is the issue?

Very poorly coached. Just think there were some losses we had that we should've won on talent alone. If we were that talented.

As an ex D1 college baseball player, players like the coach that doesn't make them work hard and is fun to hang out with. That's precisely why the players wanted Earley as HC. However, this is NOT what a bunch of 18-20 year olds need in order to be successful.

That's why it was a little silly to listen to all the players tell stories about how terrible Schloss is (Chestnut and Targac specifically). Nick Saban isn't exactly the nicest guy in the world either, but coaches like that get results

If you've ever played on a championship baseball team of any level or just on a really good one, you know that the MOST IGNORANT thing you can do as a coach or baseball manager is to bat the school's all time home run leader in the #1 spot. Players don't decide the batting order, only the coach in charge does.

I saw idjits on here trying to defend that - it is obvious they played softball or some other sport like volleyball. They may have even played some type of football and would defend having Walter Payton at quarterback.

Any time someone puts J. LaV. at leadoff it is the absolutely sure sign that you don't know what the heck you are doing and must be fired because you can't learn that much on the job.
There aren't enough centuries before the hayflick phenomenon kicks in and you have to pass on.

Trev was announced in the middle of March 2024, when we had a coach and were in the midst of our best season ever. All this went down in June, when we were a run away from national championship. Crazy to me that people judge Trev based on that.

I know he was brought in to clean up the mess of the prior guy; I just don't think we have enough data points one way or the other. This hire will be informative...

pitcher not running to cover home immediately on a wild pitch is coaching.

Shortstop covering 3rd base late on a weak ground ball to third is coaching. i think those might have been in the same inning if i remember right.

those are basic fundamentals.

As to talent. We had a lot of talent last year, but this year no Montgomery, no Appel, no Grahovac, no Aschenbeck, no Sadao, no Sorrell for over half the season, and Jace has been in a slump since last year's CWS. Maybe teams figured out how to pitch him, maybe his vision is not as good, maybe leadoff is not his spot, who knows. I always suggest doing vision tests on all players before the season. Tough year.

Not sure about Earley. The team did not look fundamentally sound. We need to press hard to keep Sorrell, Bear, TK, Moss, Sadao, Wilson, maybe Grahovac if his dad steps back, and Kent. Kent could improve his draft stock I think. Maybe even Jace could do the same. I may be missing a couple.

That's nuts - I want GG. His Dad is a nice guy. Outspoken, but he's not a problem.

Plenty of players want the opposite as well. It's up to the coach to create a culture that makes them want it.

Correct

Kids that have parents that raise them properly with discipline and structure in the end respect those parents.

Same goes for coaches.

Brauny who is always Mr. positive pointed out on Friday looking back, what took place in the fall did not have this team close to ready.

IMO their tones were different on Friday than they had been. Billy even acknowledged that Trev will have a decision to make if we don't make the tourney which I think was the first time I've heard staff mention it.

How about can't hit with any consistency, field with any consistency, and depend on the bullpen with any consistence. A player should not need any direction to produce.

The actual public events went down in June. This was set in motion in April. Texas told their best players to stay out of the portal after the regional. They knew. It was out in the recruiting world in May.

Well aware. Doesn't really change the point that we made it to the CWS Final and were trying to keep him until the very last minute. It was a weird deal and not the thing I'm going to use to judge Trev.

Billy said Monday after the Missouri series the discussion of whether to let Earley go was put back on the table. He said all of the work to get out of the hole we created was swept away. They got punched in the mouth in the 9th inning on Friday and didn't respond the rest of the way.

What is the latest date that we can reasonably expect him to be fired? In other words, what's the date that we'll have to accept he's going to be back next year if he hasn't already been fired? I know POS left the day after the CWS ended last year, but that was a pretty unique (to put it mildly) situation.

Not all of this is on the coach.

Your players have to play.

Kash and Schott hit almost 100 points less in BA than they did last year

Josh Stewart was hurt and didn't play

Grahovac was hurt and missed most of the year

Sorrell missed a large portion of the season

Prager pitched more like a Tuesday starter than a Friday guy

Moss was ineffective the last part of the year, due to illness

Kiel and Bear disappeared the last half of SEC play

Jace hit .233 in conference

Earley was a disappointment, but so were a lot of the players.
