This was a tough season. Expectations were super high and they had quite a few key injuries, along with a first year head coach, who was put into a tough situation taking over from a really good head coach, albeit an ash-hole.
Early is in his first head coaching job, and most coaches in their very first HC job do not often exceed expectations as they are trying to get their other coaches together and build a plan. It is obvious that this team did not do well, and there are many issues to point to what was a pretty loaded team. Pitching was down, hitting was down, and just poor play at times and excellent at other times. I expect there will be several changes, but probably not at Head Coach. Most times, the HC will get the benefit of the doubt and see what they can do in a second year. Look how long it took for Vitello to really get a team together and win a natty, granted we had the talent this year.
I think we give Early another year and give him the chance to make changes to correct the failures of this season. If we maintain the talent and miss again next year, we need to make a change for sure.
