Kelly has had 2 years and can't really see what he's done to warrant keeping him. The pieces of the rotation that spilled over into 2025 all seemed to regress under his watch. This year's pitching isn't good at all. Other than when Freshcorn is on the mound, I'm always prepared to get shelled.

I see this is the offseason for Festivus including our airing of invented grievances.

The notion we impeach the pitching coach to get rid of the head coach is nonsense.

Not really a JK fan, however, Sims made remarkable strides between freshman and sophomore season. Some of that, if not all, needs to be attributed to JK, unless he had a personal offseason pitching coach. Braden Montgomery had his own hitting coach nearby, not sure if pitchers do the same thing.

Sims has obviously improved from Season 1 and Freshcorn has done well but is up and down. Beyond that, there is little consistency, other than regularly delivering belt-high pitches to tee off on. I don't see that our pitchers spot their pitches well. They throw strikes. That's a positive but leaving pitches out over the plate is not. Slightly higher BA and more HRs given up in SEC play but honestly the fewer walks given up have saved us IMO. Less than half of BBs compared to what other teams have given up.

I have to hope Olsonawski takes a prominent role next season. Fiscal Year 2026 is supposed to be when the improvements at Blue Bell Park kick in. Have they started with construction yet? Figuring he's in charge of that?

The issues with pitching are much more recruiting based than pitching coach based. Hopefully and Coach Earley fully believes this, when the Player Development Center opens before next season it will greatly improve our recruiting of pitchers.

It wouldn't bother me to see Kelly go but the Aggie colored glasses are ridiculous. Are yall just embarrassed he is over weight.

Yeah, that Cunningham has become a lot worse pitcher this year. Also don't forget about Lyons, his K to IP increased modestly as he engaged in a lot more conference innings vs non-conference last year. Vargas his ERA has basically stayed the same yet he went from Tenn Tech to the SEC conference. That's got to be a step down in competition. Darden, well, he is sporting a 3.93 ERA in when he had a 6.08 ERA at Clemson last year. I know...I know...ACC is much better conference.

There is big contingency that thinks Sdao was a legitimate Friday night ace when he was not and Moss was going to be stud Saturday starter we he didn't prove last year he could get through the rotation more than once. Also I think Sdao had a small surgery along the way as well but I am sure there was little impact on his pitching.

I don't like Kelly, but overall he seems like he is doing a decent job with what he has. Did not see the team go recruit a lot of arms on the offseason at least not high caliber arms. So what did you expect Kelly to turn this P staff into? It wasn't projected to be great coming into this season. He is solid coach not a magician.

JK is here the rest of this season. So not sure Why that's being discussed at this time. Also the pitching did pretty well this past weekend.

For the ones that make fun of people's weight. Are you teenagers? I really hope you are not adults.

Lamkin?

Cunningham came in with some sort of an arm injury. It was visible in the fall 2024 scrimmage. He's actually getting closer to his old velo this season.

I'd suggest he's doing better than I though he would with our lack of depth. Seemed like just yesterday everyone was moaning about what a bust Freshcorn was. Let's see how things go. He definitely won't be going anywhere this year. I'll be open to whatever the data at year's end tells us.

I'm not sure how much of the pitching issues are roster management vs JK. Going into the season, it felt like we were a bit thin and relying on too many guys coming off injury (Sdao, Stewart) or counting on guys to step up their game (Sims, Moss, McCoy, Lyons). The inability of our expected Friday-Saturday guys to take a step forward under JK is my biggest concern (Prager, Sdao, Moss - though Lamkin seemed to take a step up). There have been pockets of development success (Sims, Freshcorn, maybe Lyons) so not ready to write off JK yet. I also thought our staff improved throughout the season last year.

We've stuck with guys trying to work through struggles too much for my liking but I don't know how much of that is philosophical versus we only have a handful of guys in the bullpen we trust.

We need biometrics equipment in the new pitching lab. I am not familiar with what we do have, but our recruiting levels indicate that we are not fully equipped with the technology needed. Personally, I think we should purchase everything early and set it up in one of the hitting tunnels until the new facility opens in January and reinstall it at that point. I'm concerned we could see another subpar summer of recruiting pitchers because we still won't have the pitching lab equipment ready for use this fall.

Complacency can kill a season. Sure, we're not going to initiate a change midseason, but we all know what the biggest problem is. Also, part of the reason for posting this is to find out if anyone knows what's going on with millions of dollars in upgrades. Recruiting doesn't stop, and if A&M doesn't make an impression on recruits, pitching will lag again next year.

Unlike most players who are 3 years removed from finishing HS, Prager had leverage due to a medical redshirt. And, it's not hard to imagine that the fact he was drafted by the Angels played a role, as they are notoriously bad at developing pitchers. At least he's in the Cleveland system, which has been one of the better organizations at developing pitchers.

Just a lurker that doesn't know much, but bet pitching would improve if some of you kicked in a million or two so we could hire, sorry mean could recruit, better portal pitchers

My biggest issue is we don't even know what we have on the roster. The same 3 guys have been used over and over out of the pen and most of the staff doesn't even have any innings. Not sure if Bollinger was any good or not, but I see why he rolled out. Too many guys aren't getting any work.

Since when do fans' posts on a message board indicate the complacency or lack thereof within the program? I sure hope they aren't reading TexAgs at all, much less basing their decisions off of it.... "Well, I was gonna keep JK around, but this random poster on the free TexAgs board doesn't like him, so guess I'll fire him," said Michael Earley never.

I was reading this and can't believe it is a recent thread. Did we not watch our pitching staff pitch this weekend? They did an awesome job this weekend! Credit needs to be given to Earley and JK for shuffling the rotation.
