I actually like what Earley has done with the pen tonight. He avoided the temptation to use all our bullets tonight. I don't care if we lose 4-2 or 10-2 if it gives us a better chance on Saturday and Sunday.

We aren't using any of our best pitchers. You throw Moss and Freshcorn out there and you probably lose 4-2… but you are toast for Saturday and Sunday.

100% this. Once we went down 5-2 I didn't expect us to run any of the other arms out there unless we got back within 1 or 2.
How do you score from 2nd on a ball that doesn't even reach the dirt?

I somewhat understand, but this has been absurd. We weren't down by 10, but by 3… even with 3 outs to go, a likely new pitcher, you can't rule our offense out that much.
Would've preferred to have a realistic shot in the 9th to comeback

I hate our prior coach with every fiber of my being, but that's exactly what he would've done in that situation - and he would've been right to do so.

We punted a lot earlier than we should have had to because we have zero depth in our pen. However, if we want to be the team we all want to be, we have to build depth. Bond is getting some really good experience here and so far has got nothing but weak contact. Cooper came in and got a big strike out.
While it's ugly, tonight was good for this team long-term.
Anyone have a live chicken?
