Names or location not mentioned. I am sharing info for the sake of knowledge and experience since this is so novel. Husband and wife. 50s. Husband is sick. Started as malaise, arthralgias and fatigue. Then fever, nausea and vomiting, then cough and dyspnea. He went to PCP office and was swabbed for flu, COVID, and sent home. He worsened, and presented to our ER. Moderate respiratory distress. Fever 102.5 deg. O2 sats 90% RA. CXR and chest CT bilateral peripheral patchy pneumonia. WBCs and % lymphs low. Thrombocytopenia. LFTs elevated.

He has been in ICU and worsened to 100% NRB O2, but has avoided intubation. COVID-19 test returns positive 7 days after swab. He has been treated with HCQ, azithromycin and zinc. He is turning the corner I think today. PO2 improved and he feels better.

How is the wife faring? Well enough, I presume?

Also there was a study about blood types. Indicated A tended to do worse, while O was a bit better.

Any thoughts on that?

Similar symptoms. Milder presentation. Mild hypoxia initially hence admission. She is much better now.

First time I've noticed Zinc mentioned. We religiously take Zicam before and after travel and at first indication of not feeling well. Has there been any more talk about the use of zinc wrt COVID-19?

Curious how your hospital census is. We are actively working to keep as many beds available in case this does blow up quickly. Previous soft admits look like they are not making it in which is good in my opinion. Protect them and protect our resources.

Census is very low. Weird. I think due to cancelling elective procedures etc. 30 "rule out COVID" patients however. 400 bed hospital.

Seems to square with a lot of the data reported that serious cases are presenting with associated risk factors and in the case of the wife she's mildly ill.

We've had a few we strongly suspected, today one with Low normal wbc, Lymphopenia, and RUL patchy infiltrate but no transaminitis with classic cv symptoms. First case we are treating with plaquenil and Zithromax.

So mid 50's with multiple comorbidities and is recovering. A positive sign. And his wife, who I assume has been with him long enough to have it as well is doing fine. Great news.

FDA needs to get off their high horse and allow hydroxychloroquine to treat covid asap so manufacturers can ramp production.

I thought they are allowing it but awaiting clinical trials to confirm the effectiveness?

IMO the limited testing has been a disaster. They should have been developing high thru put testing much sooner. Also think the social distancing was implemented a little too late.
