Good ? I haven't seen any data re that. But yes. IMO viral inoculum / load is one of the variables to severity of illness. With sustained intimate exposure to an infected individual over 20-30 min being the highest risk. Touching viral particles on surfaces and then touching your face being much lower. Count me in the ABO serotype camp as variability goes. We'll see.
So when you say 'intimate,' I am assuming you are referring to say sitting next to someone positive on an airplane. Not sitting in the chair he sat in on the next flight.

Is that a correct assumption?
I don’t say this in a braggedocious way. But it’s true. I’ve been right about everything.

Not scientific. But husband/wife level.

yes

from the spread events I've seen, intimate generally means sitting still and being talked at or around for a long while

even familial multi-day attack rate is less than some of these office or party or restaurant super spreads

this seems like a socially spread disease

if you don't talk you don't spread it

Baller got his from a brief conversation with a customer.

I don't remember him saying anything about being coughed on.

A good watch on masks

The whole mask thing is an interesting subject and not a hill I would choose to die on.

I have been thinking about this and in over 40 years of medicine I and other health care have worn masks. Not infectious patients.

My feeling is if you do not want to go where people are not wearing masks either wear one yourself or do not go.

What if it's your job? If you have hundreds of customers coming through your register at HEB every day?

BS. This virus ain't going away any time soon. You should be directing 100% of your anger and frustration at evil and corrupt communist China. Not normal American adults who know how to breathe without spreading "droplets" everywhere and refuse to ask "how high?" when incompetent socialist leaders like Lina Hidalgo threaten them with punishment if they don't "jump".

You know what I can do two things at once. ...I can throw hate at China and at people that won't wear masks for some childish reason. Masks are most effective if we ALL wear them. Not if a few, not if some but ALL.

Yes this virus isn't going away anytime soon. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to slow it's spread through the simplest, cheapest and one of the most effective means.

Perhaps some of us do not want to slow the spread now that we know who is impacted by this. Maybe we want to isolate our parents and go for herd immunity immediately and be back to normal by this fall.

I really hope you and those that think like you would take some time to understand what is going to be required to achieve herd immunity without a vaccination before deciding that this is the best course for everyone.

I do. Over the next 2-3 years 200K up to 1 mil will catch and die from COVID19. They will be overwhelmingly the aged, obese, and ill. The same population susceptible to pneumonia and the flu.

So those people don't have a right to have jobs? You wouldn't wear a mask near the checker at WalMart because he's fat and gets what he gets?

The at risk have a tough choice about whether to shelter in place or go out. He absolutely has the right to work and to take whatever precautions he considers necessary to protect himself (ie mask, gloves, hand washing, not touching his face, etc). And the business has the right to require masks in their business.

I would just shop somewhere else.

Yeah because who gives a rip about the health care professionals. They can just deal with it. I wish those with your cavalier attitude could be turned away from hospitals to reduce the risk to those putting their own health and that of their families on the line to save others.

The hospitals are empty. They could use the revenue. And doctors are around infectious diseases all the time. It kind of goes with the job.

I never *****ed about being in Iraq. I kind of signed up for it.

This is so dumb. Stop inflating the risk to healthcare workers in order to shame people into behaving how you would like. For most healthcare workers (ie under 50 and healthy) they're probably more likely to die in car crash on the way to work than to die of this virus.

not if they're having to administer O2 or intubating in a way that aerosolizes the virus

that viral load is putting them at greatly elevated risk

you should probably stop talking about HCW risk

The risk of death is still very very low.

What we have implemented in my clan, is any sneeze or cough has to be taken inside the shirt. If you miss, you say clear. forget the hand or elbow just sneeze/cough into what you are wearing. These rules by the Nazis is for mouth breathers. Mouth breathers need more than a face covering.
