I've decided to do it. I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes.

We will never get there unless people volunteer.

I signed up online to see if they would pick me.

I think my age profile, health, and location helped. 31 white male live in Victoria Tx.

Still crazy they picked me.

It's not experimental if it's passed out of Phase 3 trials, is it? It would be a new drug, but no longer experimental.

To be factual it will has passed Covid "Phase 3" not a traditional Phase 3. Everything about the vaccine has been accelerated to lightning speed, so I'm not sure it is fair to say both are exactly equal.

So what do you foresee as the earliest to get all testing done, approvals from feds, and about 1 million people vaccinated?

Yes

You are very brave with the track record of failure Moderna has. Maybe this one is different?

"Established in 2010, Moderna has never brought a product to market, or gotten any of its nine or so vaccine candidates approved for use by the FDA. It has also never brought a product to the third and final phase of a clinical trial."

Licensed vaccines get recalled. RotaShield comes to mind. I guess that is different because it was given to babies? Harder to know their side effects.

edit: yeah the data showed a slight increased risk- the current rotavirus vaccines had to have very large studies prior to approval to prove they didn't cause an increased risk of intussusception.

The past Coronavirus vaccine were more typical.

I've never heard of Moderna and have no stock in them (yet) but the theory of mRNA vaccination is a fantastic idea and the first small study that was published this week is very promising.

Are you referring to a different source? From the CDC: "The risk of intussusception increased 20 to 30 times over the expected risk for children of this age group within 2 weeks following the first dose of RotaShield vaccine." Also, at least 2 babies died.

I'm not familiar with the current rotavirus vaccines. Good to hear they are much better.
