Never getting this vaccine. 10 months for a mRNA vaccine. Something NEVER approved before by the FDA until now.

yes, the article says they are fine. they also have such bad allergic reactions that they carry around Epi Pens.

Isn't there something about most shots and allergies to eggs?

This article linked below states the two NHS staff members had an anaphylactic reaction to the vaccine. So I guess this rules out anyone with peanut anaphylactic reactions or any other severe allergy from getting the vaccine. Still a big No thanks for us! https://nypost.com/2020/12/09/uk-issues-warning-about-pfizers-covid-19-vaccine/

Honestly, since they are 95% effective and in very short supply, I don't care if someone doesn't want the vaccine. That means I get mine sooner and life gets back to normal.

I got the Moderna vaccine back in September along with most of my family. So far nothing has fallen off.

Put down the pitchfork, OP.

Quote:

The two people had a reaction shortly after having the new jab, had treatment and are both fine now.

They are understood to have had an anaphylactoid reaction, which tends to involve a skin rash, breathlessness and sometimes a drop in blood pressure. This is not the same as anaphylaxis which can be fatal.

Both NHS workers have a history of serious allergies and carry adrenaline pens around with them.

Suffering from confirmation bias in this case is more dangerous than suffering from BAS. The former can kill you while the latter just leaves you disappointed.

So if you get allergic reactions to other vaccines you have a high chance of getting one with this one, seems common sense.

I may end up getting it but not right away, has more to do with me being very low risk so it would be selfish of me to get it before most people (especially first responders/healthcare, elderly, and high risk). Plus I never buy the first year model of vehicles, with me being low risk there is no need for me to rush in.

This seems like a non news item to me. There have always been very rare allergic reactions to vaccines. Nothing new and expected.

I won't be taking the vaccine either. Same reason that I avoid milk, eggs, tree nuts and shellfish. Those are not allergies that I necessarily have per se but just the fact that others in the population have them has informed me to avoid them too.

Of course even though I am against being vaccinated, I'm a believer in herd immunity, so long as we don't use modern medicine to achieve it.

People need to chill out. My daughter had an allergic reaction when she had to receive a unit of plasma years ago. It happens! She broke out in hives all over in just a few minutes and and her BP went up and they had to suspend the infusion. What became of it?? Nothing.. next time she needed plasma they simply pre-medicated her with Benadryl.

People who are highly allergic typically carry epi-pens for a reason... its because they are super sensitive to allergens. These allergic reactions are not uncommon and generally present no negative consequences when under the care of a medical professional.

Non story. Two subjects have outlier conditions. You cannot apply this reaction to the general population. Worth watching, but not news.

this is when the "it's a personal responsibility issue" comes into play. Public health measures like wearing a mask are what trump rightfully called "patriotic"..i.e. something you do to benefit your country as a whole.

Getting vaccinated tips that balance of motivation away from patriotism towards self interest.

This may have been answered in another thread, but is their something specific that allows a mRNA vaccine to be approved so much faster than previous vaccines? If it's due to the urgency of the situation, I think it is reasonable to be cautious. There is so much misinformation out there around it, it feels almost impossible to get a legitimate answer on your own.

It is an emergency use authorization.

So yes, it is due to an emergency.
