Kyle Field will be packed with no masks by September.

I read how difficult it was for pathogens to escape the unbelievable security at the CDC labs. I think you have a point here.Quote:
This thing escaped a level 4 biolab. Consider the amount of PPE and precautions they take.
Cheap masks do nothing.

Revelations of safety breaches at federal biosecurity laboratories reveal gaping holes in safety protocols, a lack of independent oversight, and an apparent culture of hubris among researchers who work with dangerous biological agents, biosecurity experts say.
In the past week, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced three separate incidents:The incidents have shone a light on a broader issue of lapses in safety and security at bio labs operated and funded by the federal government.
- In June, scientists at the CDC's Bioterrorism Rapid Response and Advanced Technology lab exposed 80 unprotected workers to pathogenic anthrax.
- Weeks earlier, the CDC's influenza lab shipped samples of a benign avian flu virus that had been cross-contaminated with more pernicious strain to a US Department of Agriculture facility.
- Researchers at a Federal Drug Administration lab operated by National Institutes and Health uncovered long forgotten vials containing the smallpox virus circa 1954 that were supposed to be consigned to international repositories.
failure numbers are up across the board. Both in person and online. My wife's students are zombies.jopatura said:
I will be shocked if kids go back to public school without masks on. Illnesses are down in school kids in big numbers this year. I think they'll use that to push forever masks on the kids.
I sub and the teachers are way too happy about not having to deal with parents in person anymore. Send off a few more emails, schedule a Zoom call that they can control... they aren't taking their foot off the gas on this pandemic until they absolutely have too. Once they concede masks, they have to let parents in the building again.
because they are 100% dehumanizing. If I cannot see your facial expressions nor can you see mine we both become monotone robots. That isn't living, that is imprisonment.3rd Generation Ag said:
I will never understand why people are so anti mask. Wear one all the time and you get used to it. Like wearing a bra.
i haven't taken my shoes off in three years. Not have I once removed a liquid toiletry item in the last decade.CastleRock said:ORAggieFan said:
Just random opinions. Had a conversation with someone yesterday who said another 18-24 months. I said way less and kids would be in school in fall without them. My hope is we're all burning them in massive July 4th bonfires.
Once a majority of the >65 population is vaccinated I don't see any reason masks should be worn.
What are others thinking both should happen and will happen?
I'd guess a long, long, long, time.
We are still taking our shoes off at the airport, and that was 20 years ago.

Well, for starters, they are an obstruction to verbal and non-verbal communication, which we have relied on as a species for 20,000 years.3rd Generation Ag said:

I think it is more likely at some point in late spring or early summer that they encourage at-risk groups to continue to mask up and maybe even encourage the public at large to mask up but remove the mandates, especially for those who are vaccinated. That goes for fed, state, and local.
They are uncomfortable, especially when the weather starts to heat up again. And on a personal note, anytime we go out with our baby, she reacts completely differently to us when we're wearing our masks. I'm tired of seeing my child confused because she can't read our facial expressions.3rd Generation Ag said:

In the small town where I live and in surrounding small towns I visit (all under 10,000 in population) mask wearing has been declining for several months now. Even in some of the places that got all serious at first and put up the plexiglass shields not a single employee, behind the shield or not, wears a mask anymore. Despite county and city required signage, one restaurant has a larger sign that says "masks are suggested." I would guess I see about 20% to 30% of people wearing one, depending on where I am at the time, and half of them are not wearing them properly. Since this began, I have seen zero enforcement. Even those in city and county government who came up with the mask orders or ordinances don't comply.Capitol Ag said:Here in Collin County most stores don't enforce the mandate. I am sure other areas of the state are the opposite, but here, my friends who don't mask tell me no one really bothers them. I think most retail stores would just rather avoid the drama of trying to enforce the mandate and it's honestly above most of these workers' paygrade. So here the transition will very easy and smooth. Austin might be another story. The city and many of my Austin friends are much more invested in the mandate. I see this taking longer in those communities. I do think that once the state drops their mandate, the counties will not be aloud to enforce their own, as I thought the Governor stated that any state level trumps the county and city level. So if the state declares there is no need to mask, a county cannot override that. I could be VERY wrong on this though.Dad said:
I've had both doses of the vaccine but will keep wearing one until there are unused doses of the vaccine without an arm to go in. The moment that happens I am done with masks and will purposely not wear one anywhere unless asked. If everyone does that the stores and other businesses will just stop enforcing it and masks will be done. My guess is that time is coming by June.

I think one of the worst things about masks (and I hate wearing them so much) is what it is likely doing to babies and young children. It just can't be good for them, and those formative years are SO important.

I also know way more people who have gotten covid in the past 4 to 6 weeks. Most feel bad a couple of days, have to quarantine from work, but the only effect seems to be a temporary loss of smell and taste.
