I prefer a potential sweet sixteen matchup with Louisville over SMU and Stanford.

I am not surprised at all. Actually think we have a very reasonable chance to meet Louisville.

Yep. They seeded us at the bottom of our potential range and sent us to the best 1 seed.

Gotta beat great teams to get to the end with a trophy in-hand, regardless.

I don't get how we could have a worse seeding with fewer losses and a win against one of the 1 seeds.

Huge hose job. Also giving us 17 rpi tcu as 6 seed. When as the ninth ranked team in seeding our two should have been around 25

I think it's just being in the weak SEC. Only 5 teams gettting in out of 16. We only had 4 top 25 wins as well. We played 3 top 20 teams in non conference and lost 2 of them

so Sips gets a 1 seed for losing 2 SEC games while we lost 1 and we get 3 seed. I can see us being 1 seed worse than them since we lost to SMU & TCU months ago but still.

On a snake system we are 9th overall.

About right. Our tourney killed us in terms of RPI.

So they counted the tournament this year. Oh well, make it up as you go along.

They swept Creighton, Wisconsin, Arizona State, and TCU. They also have wins over Louisville, Stanford, Kentucky, and us. They have 5 more top 25 wins than us and 3 more top ten wins.

Our best win was tu, our next best wins were 14 Minnesota, 21 Rice and 23 Tennessee.

This besides not beating kentucky but they scheduled the non conference very hard to get a 1 seed if they won. I think LV can be beat

It isn't a snake system and never has been. The committee that creates the bracket manages it to avoid matchups they don't want and get matchups that they do want.

A snake based on KPI gives us a 2 seed.

A snake based on RPI gives us a 3 seed but lands us in the Austin region.

The human element put us as a 3 seed at Nebraska.

I think so too. Louisville fans complain a lot about their pins not having the best year. They do have two amazing middle blockers though along with strong setting. So we'll need our back row to play well and Maddie Waak to set smartly. Hellmuth has struggled the most against strong blocking teams, so hopefully she'll adjust and someone like Lednicky and our middles can have a great game! I did not want to be matched up against SMU or Stanford, two of the toughest serving teams in the country

Round 1 Friday 12/4 game is 6:30 A&M vs Campbell
Round 2 Saturday 12/5 7:00 A&M vs TCU (barring a shocker)

TCU was a 4 seed a few weeks ago but has struggled down the stretch.

Bottom line - Pack Reed!!!

(TCU vs SFA at 4pm 12/4 in Reed as well)

The matchup the committee would want is not us and Nebraska but Nebraska Louisville since their head coach was at Louisville last season. Too bad we're beating Louisville anyways

Thanks for all the updates and thoughts regarding the seeding and our regional. I missed the selection show because I was outside shoveling the 10.9 inches of snow we got off of our driveway. This is when I wished I stilled lived in Texas!

Here's the bracketologist breakdown on Volleytalk which gives more data even if it wasn't exactly on the nose as it played out:
https://volleytalk.proboards.com/thread/105700/final-2025-bracketology

Quote:

. . .
Top-16 Seeds

6th-10th spots
The next cluster of teams is sorting out the #6-#8 (2-seeds) and #9-#10 teams (3-seeds). Here they are ordered by RPI:

6 Creighton - 0 T10 wins, 6 T25 wins, 13 T50 wins, H2H among group: L- Louisville
7 Stanford - 2 T10 wins, 3 T25 wins, 11 T50 wins, H2H among group: split w/ Louisville, L- SMU
8 SMU - 3 T10 wins, 6 T25 wins, 8 T50 wins, H2H among group: W- Stanford, Louisville, Texas A&M
9 Louisville - 2 T10 wins, 5 T25 wins, 8 T50 wins, H2H among group: W- Creighton, L- SMU, split w/ Stanford
10 Texas A&M - 1 T10 win, 4 T25 wins, 7 T50 wins, H2H among group: L- SMU

SMU seems to be the favorite among this group, as they beat three of the teams here, and have the most top 10 wins. I will put them at #6 overall, but you can definitely make a case for them to be #5 overall.

The toughest question among this group is what to do with Creighton. Their nitty gritty with six top 25 and 13 top 50 wins is impressive, but none of those T25 wins are among T10 teams - their best win is Kansas, who is a team on the cusp of hosting.

I don't see how Texas A&M inserts itself into this group as one of the leaders, as it feels like they will be an 8, 9, or 10 team.

With Stanford jumping up to 7 in RPI and winning at Louisville, I feel that the committee will look past the relatively low three T25 wins and recognize that two of them are in the top 10, including one over regional host Pittsburgh, and put them at the 7 spot.

Louisville, with the H2H over Creighton, will then slot in at 8.

The debate comes between Creighton and Texas A&M at 9. If the committee really values top 10 wins and having a huge win over a regional host - one that Creighton lost to - it will go to Texas A&M. However, if they value Creighton's RPI, KPI, and simple volume of T25/T50 wins, it will be Creighton above Texas A&M.
. . .

I'm okay with this draw. We need to prove we can beat TCU (and we should) and then beat Louisville which I think we can. Shocker of the decade will be when we beat Nebraska!

First, we could only have been in the Pitt or Nebraska regions because they try to keep top 4 seed conference teams out of the same bracket, if possible. As for a two vs a three seed, they essentially said we are the best 3 seed going against the weakest 2 seed which means going to the overall top seed. Even if they moved us to a 2, we likely would have still faced the same team also in Lincoln. The only differences are what color uniforms we were and which locker room we occupy.

In other words, this seems like a reasonable bracket for us given our results this year.

The person hired by the NCAA to cover college volleyball for them and to promote the sport has been telling us for a good month that isn't true and has regularly had us in the Texas or Kentucky region. What sources do you have better than her's? And why did no one that she interviews tell her that she was wrong all along?
