Thank you. In general, is it difficult at this level for a OH to learn and switch to Opp. and vice versa?

NO

Different angles but most have beem trained on both pins in club because of serve receive patterns

Depends on the athlete. Most opposites are left handed while OHs are right handed. Also very common for one or the other to hit at least one rally on the opposite pin before transitioning to their base pin.

With room for 2 more I think

I think you are right. 18 is the roster limit.

17 on the roster this season. 9 seniors leaving (includes Lexi who took a RS year and is transferring), 5 incoming freshman, 3 portal transfers. That is 16, so room for 2 more.

Need to see if anyone else is leaving.

Logan's comment about Djurdja going home makes me nervous. Hopefully she just meant for the Christmas break and Logan won't be around when school starts in the spring. Djurdja really seemed to enjoy her time on the team, but I'm sure not playing isn't as much fun.

6'1 Outside Hitter - Natalie Ring
3rd Team All American, All Big East, 4.54 kills a set, 0.33 aces per set

6'3 - Middle - Eliza Sharp
Would be an insane pick up She averaged 1.23 blocks a set and 2.21 kills a set as a freshman! Mountain West Freshman of the Year and All Conference

6'4 - Middle - Kaia Castle
Former top 20 recruit, 1.94 kills a set, 0.88 blocks a set.

Both middles with 3 years of eligibility… wow

To me this looks likely an outstanding trio to help replace leaving seniors.

I thought the commentators said Logan being a LH opposite was pretty unique and presented a challenge for opponents.

Has Natalie Ring committed? With Jamie's emphasis on development Eliza Sharp and Castle make sense, they are still young and time to grow. Is Ring someone to give us some senior leadership? Stop-gap until Fitch is ready?

No doubt she's talented and would contribute, but Jamie hasn't recruited a ton of one-and-done types here.

I think that was likely a miscommunication somewhere.

The OP on the right side has their left hand known as On Hand closer to setter and inside the right antenna versus outside the antenna and farther from setter.

He has taken one and done. Eli Stenson was a one and done LS/DS last year.

Ring brings the gap year in for the stud OH we have in 2027. We need some leadership and experience for next year. Ring has truly developed into a 6 rotation player.

If does make me question where fitch fits into the equation next year

Fitch would be needed for depth and I bet sees some court time! And you're right, it'll be awesome to have a senior leader like Ring! Not sure you could've gotten a better more experienced player to come in and bring that leadership! She did so much for Marquette!

That '27 outside Incinelli just won player of the year for Florida!

it was for certain knee injury that required surgery, just don't know the exact injury. She got surgery in September I believe. She was standing with the rest of the bench the last few matches after sitting on the bench most of the season

Right, but I think his preference is to develop from within if possible. Losing so much senior leadership this does make sense and Ring seems like she'll be a great fit.

I do like for the most part we get multiple years with these ladies to get to know them and not just a revolving door. It's coming together nicely and looking like the fallout from so many graduating is certainly going to be minimized with these portal gets.

Definitely a preference for multiple years and development, with an occasional one and done to fill a need. Jamie doesn't want a program where you are going out to get a bunch of hired guns their senior year, and I think this year has validated that approach.

All I gotta say is… who wouldn't want to play for Morrison regardless of where he's coaching (being at A&M is just the icing on the cake)

Saw that rumor, that would be huge, but she plays the same position as Stowers and Ring. We would need one of the 3 to switch to Opposite probably!

Do you think one could do that? Or do you think we target a portal player that is already an Opposite to replace Logan?

It's possible, they're saying Gaerte isn't a great passer so she could most likely move to that side.

We'll see if Jamie believes in Taryn Morris or one of his incoming freshman to take over that position.

I believe 2 (counting Eliza Sharp of Boise State who hasn't made it official) you can fill up to 18, but it's also not a requirement. This year we had 17.

I recall the player intro video played in Reed where each player announced their name and position had Stowers self identify as an OH/OPP.

Obviously Logan was going to be our Opp this year, so Stowers needed to be OH. I wonder if she is interested in moving to Opp and that is why Jamie is bringing in another OH rather than an Opp. Stowers showing the ability to play both sides should increase her post college playing opportunities.

Plus we also added Djurdja late. Wouldn't be surprised to see Jamie keep a spot open for a late addition. But also, you don't need to go international if you can fill the roster holes in the portal.

Jamie mentioned doing 1-on-1s with the remaining players as far as goals, etc. Assuming this is when those leaving the program would step up. I hope they all stay.

Jamie has done a pretty good job of limiting transfers out, and I expect that especially this year with 9 seniors leaving.

Lexi already entered the portal. She was honored as one of the seniors but she redshirted this year to preserve eligibility for a transfer. Clearly a plan from early on.

But the 1 on 1s is a time for the coach and player to be honest about their roll on the team and if that lines up with their goals/expectations.

Jamie also commented in KC about the girls who left last year being there to watch the team. During that comment he said something about helping them find a spot.

We only had one junior (Margot) on the roster and she redshirted so she still has 2 years. Kyndal is the only sophomore.

As for the freshman/rs-freshman, there is still time to develop under Jamie and then transfer for playing time later. I'd expect them to stay unless they have been completely recruited over. Combo of A&M degree and Jamie development probably makes sticking around worthwhile.

While I have no inside info, I'd expect the rest to stick.

Maybe they can make it to the FF for the 6th straight year. Their 0-5 streak is hard to believe.
