Aggies to get LSU, Arkansas, Missouri as permanent hoops opponents

One of the toughest decisions for the SEC since adding both Texas A&M and Missouri to the conference — with regard to basketball scheduling — has been figuring out how many and which schools will play year in and year out on the hardwood.

On Thursday the conference will announce permanent opponents for each university. Each team will have three permanent opponents it will play home-and-home games with each year during conference play, with the new pairings effective for the upcoming 2015-2016 season.

This may seem like a quick move, but the conference and the programs have been preparing for this since the beginning of last season.

As for the the Aggies ... Texas A&M will be paired with Arkansas, LSU and Missouri.

I like the pairing of the Aggies and the Razorbacks because of the former rivalry in the Southwest Conference and the fact that A&M and Arkansas have played some decent games in the recent past.

LSU is an obvious draw as EVERYONE would love to see a heated rivalry form between both schools on the basketball court, as well as the gridiron.

Missouri is the final permanent addition to the schedule. The Tigers have proven to have a strong home court advantage and will be formidable opponents each year.

On another note, Jeff Goodman tweeted about Billy Kennedy and the Aggies making a foreign tour this summer. He is absolutely correct in that the Ags will be playing a number of games in Italy and Greece.

And to be more specific, Kennedy and his talented roster will show off their new look in Rome, Sorrento and Athens.

The dates of this trip are August 13-23 and will give the coaching staff an early look at its top-10 recruiting class, including graduate transfer Anthony Collins.
