During Monday's edition of TexAgs Radio, Richard Zane joined to take us Around Aggieland and provided updates from the hardwood, the track, and beyond as it was a busy weekend for the Maroon & White.

Women’s Basketball (16-1, 7-1 in SEC play)
No. 8 Texas A&M took down No. 22 Georgia on Sunday afternoon, 60-48, on the same day that the Aggies honored the 2011 National Championship squad, a nod to the Maroon & White’s 41-point victory over the Bulldogs in the 2011 Sweet Sixteen.

  • N’dea Jones played all 40 minutes and finished with a team-high 15 points as she registered yet another double-double.
  • Kayla Wells finished with 13 points, and Ciera Johnson had 12.

The Aggies will be back in action on Thursday night as they host LSU at Reed Arena. A&M will be looking to avenge a 65-61 overtime loss at the hands of the Tigers. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.

Men’s Basketball (8-7, 2-6 in SEC play)
Saturday afternoon, Buzz Williams & Co. took down Kansas State, 68-61, in Manhattan, part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge, which the Southeastern Conference ultimately won.

  • Jay Jay Chandler and Savion Flagg led the way with 14 points each.
  • Emanuel Miller added 12 points, and Andre Gordon contributed 10.

The Aggies are back in action on Wednesday night as they host Vanderbilt at Reed Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT and will air on the SEC Network.

Volleyball (4-4, 4-4 in SEC play)
Bird Kuhn and the Aggies were slated to resume their season with a pair of matches against the Auburn Tigers over the weekend, but those contests were canceled as the Tigers have canceled the spring portion of their season due to opt-outs and injuries.

The Maroon & White will return to the court on Friday as they begin a two-match series with the Tennessee Volunteers. The serve on Friday is at 12:00 p.m. CT, while Saturday’s match begins at 2:00 p.m. CT.

  • Friday’s match will air on the SEC Network, and television designation for Saturday has not yet been announced.

Equestrian (2-2, 1-2 in SEC play)
The ninth-ranked Aggies resumed their season on Saturday as they hosted No. 9 Baylor at the Hildebrand Equine Complex.

  • The spring slate began in tie-breaking fashion as the Maroon & White edged out the Bears 1579.75-1568.75 after a 9-9 tie.

A&M will be back at Hildebrand in a couple of weeks as they host No. 1 Auburn on February 13. The Aggies have already faced the Tigers in 2020-2021, falling to Auburn on The Plains, 15-5, in October.

Track & Field
The Aggies went to Lubbock this weekend to compete in the Texas Tech Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

  • Sophomore Charokee Young won the Women’s 400m with a time of 52.64.
  • A&M took first in the Women’s 4x400 with a time of 3:31.09 as freshman Athing Mu ran the anchor.
  • Senior Deborah Acquah won the Women’s long jump with a 6.62m jump.
  • Senior Bryce Deadmon won the Men’s 400m dash with a time of 45.29.
  • Sophomore Connor Schulman won the Men’s 60m Hurdles with a time of 7.80.
  • Senior Tyra Gittens won the Women’s Pentathlon with 4612 points, winning the 60m hurdles, high jump, shot put, and long jump.

A&M is back in action this weekend as the Aggies will run in the Charlie Thomas Invitational on Saturday, February 6, at the Gilliam Indoor Stadium here in Bryan-College Station.

Men’s Tennis
Back on January 23, No. 11 Texas A&M defeated No. 21 Pepperdine in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Ann Arbor. While the Aggies were in Michigan, the University of Michigan halted all athletic activities for two weeks, meaning the tournament could not be completed, and the Aggies’ match with No. 15 Baylor would need to be rescheduled.

  • A&M will meet the Bears on Sunday, February 7, in Dallas at the SMU Tennis Complex.
  • The Aggies will also face Tulsa and Louisiana Lafayette on Saturday, February 6, in Dallas.

Women’s Tennis (5-1, 0-0 in SEC play)
The Aggies held a double-header on Saturday at the Mitchell Tennis Center.

  • A&M defeated SMU, 4-0, and Abilene Christian, 6-1.

A&M will be back in action on Tuesday, February 2, as they face TCU in Fort Worth.
