Notes on Jenn Brown interview

* She has been to College Station five times in the past two years and A&M has become her second university home (she attended Florida). She has moderated an event for the Texas A&M Sport Management department the past two years and is now working with Promentum group to get involved with public speaking more and more.

* Coming out of college, she was on her way to law school after majoring in criminology. She tells people who are trying to get into broadcasting to take a different route than she did and major in something much more broadcast-specific. She grew up around sports her whole life and eventually wanted to become a sports agent and after taking a year off to apply to different law schools, she was presented with the opportunity to host a travel show. The decision to either go to law school or travel around the world was not a hard one to make and eventually she found her way back to the sports world in front of the camera.

* One reporter who really took her under her wind is Bonnie Bernstein. Bernstein has really helped her along the way and continues to call her after games to give her tips from time to time.

* She believes that Kyle Field already had an SEC atmosphere long before A&M was ever in the conference. Kyle Field and the A&M atmosphere rank near the top of her list of favorite stadiums to cover games because of the tradition and fan support that is present every week. There is no doubt in her mind that A&M fits in the SEC, and the game day atmosphere is definitely something to be proud of.

* Her top five stadiums that she's experienced as a reporter:
1A. Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (University of Florida … her alma-mater)
1B. Kyle Field (Texas A&M University)
3. EverBank Field (Jacksonville, Florida; site of Florida-Georgia game)
Also … Camp Randall Stadium (University of Wisconsin) and Lane Stadium (Virginia Tech University)

* She met Coach Sumlin at Ryan Tannehill’s pro-day, and she thinks he is doing a great job with the A&M program so far. What he has accomplished so far this season has grabbed the attention of the entire country, and Johnny Manziel has a very bright future ahead of him. Everyone in Aggieland should be very happy with the entrance into the SEC, and A&M football will continue to be talked about nationally for years to come.

* When the dust settles, she thinks the winner of the SEC Championship will take one of the spots in the national title game. The other spot will be taken by Oregon if they can run the table and win the Pac-12 undefeated.

* The most interesting coach she has ever interviewed is probably Mike Martin, the baseball coach at Florida State. Another interesting coach she has interviewed is Steve Spurrier. During one of her very first Thursday night football games, she was supposed to interview Spurrier right before kickoff. Spurrier began to get antsy and decided to bail on the interview because the game was about to begin. She then literally pulled him back into the shot to start the interview and asked her questions.

* A normal week for her starts after a game on Saturday. After the game on Saturday, she hops on a plane home and is usually able to catch some of the later games of the day. Sundays are a little more laid back and involve catching up on games she missed and having some down time. After finding out where she is headed next on Sunday, the week of preparation begins on Monday and continues throughout the week. She flies out to the game on Thursday and continues her prep while also meeting with coaches to get ready for Saturday’s contest.

No doubt, hopefully Liucci and Gabe will work on that with her. Other than that, nice addition on a Monday.

Interestingly, I believe Aggieville is the college bar section of Manhattan, KS. I knew a high school friend's dad who went to k-state and I looked like an idiot one time when he mentioned Aggieville to me, thinking he meant to say Aggieland. He was telling me to come to a game in Manhattan. I wasn't that interested.

Yep, in her defense, Aggieville is where the bars are in Manhattan, KS, just off campus. Probably got it mixed up in her head. No worries though.

I must say, I've been very impressed with the level of guests you've been able to bring onto the show, Gabe. TexAgs radio could have stayed at a local level of celebrity (Reggie, Solari, the Matthews bros, etc) but you guys have started to consistently interview top notch guests and Jenn Brown is no exception.

Fantastic stuff, I wish you all the best -- you're getting to do something that I always dreamed would be a great job.

Question for Looch:

Having seen Erin Andrews and Jenn Brown in person and up close, is there are clear winner or is there no wrong answer?
