Mike Elko and the Aggies continue to grind away on the recruiting trail, and today they welcome one of the top 2027s in the country as Waxahachie safety JayQuan Snell‍ announces his Texas A&M commitment.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound defender has been a top prospect in Texas since emerging as a varsity standout during his freshman year. He has been a playmaker on both sides of the ball, but his rangy, physical style has been particularly eye-opening on the defensive side of the ball.

His size makes him an imposing figure on the backend of the Waxahachie defense, and he is not afraid to get downhill in a hurry and lower the boom on an opposing ball carrier. With a background in offense, his abilities as a receiver are also quick to shine through in the way he attacks the ball as a defender.

Offers have arrived from coast to coast over the years, and Mike Elko and Ish Aristide made him a top priority once they arrived in College Station. In the end, he chose the Aggies over the likes of Texas, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Miami, Alabama and Ohio State.

He becomes the Aggies’ seventh commitment of the 2027 recruiting class. He joins Hakim Frampton‍, Kamarui Dorsey‍ and Raylaun Henry‍ as defensive backs in A&M’s 2027 class
