FYI,

Wayne Davis, who I have a man crush on, has already ran the 110m hurdles faster in high school than any of the top collegiate athletes ran today.

I can't even emphasize how big a recruit he is going to be for us b/c we are getting zilch out of hurdles these days on the men's side.

Conservatively I think he will give us 20 pts.

Think about what that would be worth to us this week in Arkansas. National Championship guaranteed.

Huge development for the men, I think. Matthew Centrowitz of Oregon was projected to win the 1500. It looked like he didn't qualify to move on to the finals. That's 10 points off the boards for Oregon.

Davis is only a high hurdler and will have to make the transition to the college highs. He also does not run the intermediates. He will be very good but his time does not necessarily project to the college highs. Also, Texas signed a Jamaican hurdler with a similar PR in the highs.

if there are only two hurdling events how is 20 points a conservative estimation? What other events is he going to participate in?

Pat Knight (Texas Tceh) placed 13th in the shot put for womens.

were the ladies expected to point in the 4x400? they are on the outside looking in.

women fail to qualify in 4X400

Women's 4X400 was projected in 10th place. Finished in 10th. Oregon women made a big jump in long jump. We're now projected 5 points behind the Ducks. Men's race just got really tight with the Ducks 1500M problem.

Women weren't projected to get points in the 4x400. It would have been bonus had we made the final.

It would have been an unexpected bonus for the women to get a point in the 4x400. They need to get a win in the 4x100 and score big points in the sprints.

I'm really confused why we aren't stronger in the 400 relay. We haven't been good there all year.

For some reason I just feel like we should be competitive in that race. Maybe its b/c we are so big on sprints and we have Beard, etc.

I think if we could have run on Lucas on there we would have gotten through but that is too much to ask of her with all the other events she is in.

So in what event can we make up the 5 points on the projected final scores to over take Oregon? Any ideas

I have been monitoring the NCAA website and the video feed. It appears that there are now javalin throwers in the background, which I assume are the decathletes. Yet, nothing is on the website yet about the pole vault.

Going to be tough. We already have to win the 200, 400 and 4X1. No room for improvement there. If Mayo could get off on her races, she could get a few extra points. Triple jump is the only other option. We need Oregon to come back to us a little, but keep an eye over our shoulder for ASU, FSU and LSU. Geez.

As Whoop99 reported, Otto is now in 5th, but everything is still pretty tight after 1st. Otto vaulted just over 14'. I have no idea what his personal best is.

The competition has to be pretty wearing on everyone. They started at 2:30 this afternoon, and now it's almost 10pm with the 1500, at least, to go.

oregon girl improved from projected 8th to 7th in the 10,000

Oregon W 10000m finished 7th, picks up 1 point more than her 8th place projection.

Just came back, and WOW that was huge in the 1500. Any word on what happened? Guy was second to last amongst finishers. Trip and fall?
