Men still have a good shot, especially if Oregon screws up in the javelin. They are projected for 11 pts.

It will all depend on the 200, triple jump, and 4 x 400.

If I'm reading this thread over on the Track & Field News forum right, one Oregon guy who was predicted 6th didn't make it and one who was predicted 2nd is currently 4th?

Wow. Looks like Oregon may have tripped up in the women's pole vault. Good news for us.

Things could still change but we may gain a little on them with this sudden turn of events.

Well hopefully oregon can keep opening the door, and we can keep it together and overcome the 4x100 loss.

Oregon is almost out of bullets. Oregon has projected 5 pts in the 400. Have to watch Fla St. They have projected wins in 1500 and triple jump, plus 4 pts in the 800. If Porscha, Jessica, and Gabby do their jobs tomorrow, we should have it wrapped up.

A&M 44
Fla St 41
Again, Oregon is almost out of bullets. They are projected to win the 800 for 10 pts, and that is it. Fla St is expected to score big in 200 (1st for 10 pts), 400 (3rd & 5th for 10 pts), and 4 X 400 (1st for 10 pts). It could come down to the 4 X 400 for us. I like it. I like it a lot.

Women

Oregon gets 0 pts in pole vault. Projected to get 5.

So we jump up 5 pts on them after being tied. Team to look out for is FSU who is only 6 back of us and 1 back of Oregon.

Men

Oregon gets 5 pts in the javelin. Projected to get 11.

So we made up 6 of the 8 pts we were down. This of course leaves us only 2 pts back now on the men's side.

We can easily make this up in the triple jump.

Same as on the women's side, keep an eye out for FSU. Only 5 back of Oregon now and 3 back of us.

I have to be honest things are looking really good for us on both sides. I think Phiri is going to impress tomorrow as will Gabby Mayo.

I wouldn't count out Florida. Currently 21 points, 2 guys in the 110h, Smith in the 400, Wilks in the 200, Taylor TJ and 4x4 relay. They have more than enough opportunities to sneak in there.

I have to honest, I'm kind of disappointed with the finals performances so far for both teams. They are setting records and great marks in the prelims, but are not meeting predictions when it comes to the money round in this meet.

I hope I'm wrong, but with the margin of error so small in our events we need to score our points, nothing short of perfection tomorrow will net us a NC for either team.

Other than the 4x100 mishap.... what are you disappointed in with either squad. I think they are set up pretty well to make a run at both titles!

I look at the Triple Jump as just as scary for a downside as I do for an upside. Fouls, and other factors can really affect the jumping events, as evidenced by the long jump (men), and pole vault (women) results.

When we are expected to get 2,3 and 6th, it is hard to improve, and "gain" points. Remember the predictor doesn't care how many bullets you have left, it is all based on how you should score in the events that are remaining + what you did score in the complete events.

FYI, Gabby Mayo was projected to finish 4th (5 pts) in the 100m hurdles. We are in really good shape. First of all, she had the 3rd fastest time; second, she won her heat (meaning she may not have finished strong) so she likely may have been able to catch the 2nd fastest time which was only 2/100ths faster if it were the finals. I think she is going to pick up 8 vs. the 5 projected.


On the men's side I think our big chance to gain premium points are going to be the 200m dash.

Dykes is projected to finish 4th, Phiris 6th. This would equal 8 pts.

Dykes WON the semis in 20.40 seconds. If this held over to the finals he of course would pick up 10 points.

Phiri on the other hand finished fifth (20.56) but just last month he ran a 20.29 at the Big 12 championships. Guess what he ran in the prelims of that same meet? 20.60. Looks awfully familiar to what is going on here at the NCAA's

There is a decent chance we go 1-2 in the 200 m picking up 18 pts. Whatever the outcome we should improve greatly on the 8pts projected for this event.

Our triple jumpers have been very consistent. We show up meet after meet. In the prelims at this meet we went 1, 3, 7. If that carries over we actually gain 1 pt.

The place to be concerned on the men's side is the 4x400 relay. We are projected to finish 3rd but I think that is stretching it. We finished 5th in the prelims.
