I was on the phone...what was happening? Whistling then passed out, or was the whistling and screaming to get someone's attention?

both players pretty sloppy in this 2nd set. Roger less sloppy.

Wow. 2 match points to a defeat in about 15 minutes. So tough...was hoping Roger could make it to another final. Amazing match. That was something else.

wow... rfed with too many forehand unforced errors. djoko knows his forehand is his weakest shot, and that's what he makes him hit.

Wow. Seriously. Roger should not have lost that match. But what an effort from Novak. Incredible match!

I think it my was my nervousness that killed Roger's chances... lol I thought I was about to have a heart attack a million times throughout the whole thing.

as much as i want to dislike djoko, he is a class guy and his enthusiasm is second to none. plus he dances.

Haha, yeah- it's hard to dislike a guy when he dances.

He's grown on me a lot over these past couple of years. Love watching him compete.

Djoker grew up in front of our eyes, and I'm glad to see it. He understood how to manage his feelings and still be classy/funny on the court.

That reaction after his unbelievable return on match point was priceless, and was the turning point in the match.

Feel awful for Roger...was hoping to see one more Rafa/Roger GS final.

Gonna be interesting to see if Novak can wrap up arguably the greatest year ever.

Rafa just go the break in the 1st set of this match, and I don't expect Murray to break through. Maybe he'll surprise me, but looks like Rafa v Novak for the US Open title.

Another good match. Rafa is just amazing. The final on Monday should be another historic one- can't wait!!

So should I feel guilty that I'm rooting for Caroline tonight- even though it might be hopeless?

I'm another in the anti-Williams sisters camp, but I guess I'll be a good American tonight (while silently cheering for Caroline also).

All of Wozniacki's points were scored on Serena's errors...I've never seen such a defensive game plan.


IMHO...this thing is over.

Even when she tries to go offensive...it gets sent back with authority.

I wouldn't really call it a 'game plan.' She's just a defensive player- a very good one at that. And the majority of the time it works for her, which is why she's the number one player in the world.

The problem is that when Serena plays like this, no effective game plan exists. It doesn't matter who's on the other side of the net.

I would still like to see Serena against the #250 or so guy in the world. I think it would be fun to watch

seriously... i've always wondered why people don't like the william's sisters. i find their story to be one of the greatest american sports stories. the way they grew up with their dad as their coach, becoming the first sister combo to dominate tennis. what's to root against? haters gonna hate, i guess.

got nothing against Venus, really. She is way too flashy for my liking with her ridiculous attention grabbing clothing for GS's, but nothing really against her.

Serena is a piece of ****. She's a spoiled, entitled, arrogant piece of crap. I'll never forget what she did to the lineswoman a few years back. That's as bad as it gets in tennis. Yell at the chair umpire if you want, but what she did was awful.

Also, HGH is a a hell of a drug. I'm not convinced she and/or her sister used, but I would never be surprised if it came up.

Regarding what you said about their success...there's no doubt they are 2 of the most successful players ever, and deserve credit for that.

How you can't understand why people don't like Serena though is beyond me.

whatever. spoiled, entitled? dude, she grew up in compton, the ghetto. she's worked hard for everything she's got. and if you've ever heard her speak after a match or during commentary, she's incredibly humble, sweet, and intelligent.

i'll give you she went a little overboard on the ref two years ago, but to judge her by that one instance is absurd. maybe if you knew a little history about how she got screwed in those matches back in the day against capriati you'd know why she got so upset. you must despise connors and mcenroe then, huh?

I also know that she's not the gracious young innocent lamb that you think she is.

I'm with you that her dad brought his daughters out of certain life situations to achieve the pinnacle of success in tennis. I think what they have done is simply unbelievable.

However, I can't stand her personally. She has made more comments than that one blowup, but even then, it's something that was(IMO) glossed over, even with the coverage it got. What she did is simply unacceptable in tennis.

I still think she's juiced.

Not gonna argue her play. It's unreal. I just don't like her as a person.

what about em? Can't stand the stuff they said. Mcenroe said some horrible **** that was way over the line. Then he basically made it his "schtick" to do so.

As I said...direct arguments towards the chair umpire. Don't turn to a line judge and tell them you'll shove a ball down their throat and say I could kill you. That's unbelievably ridiculous.

Tennis is a pure sport. A gentleman and lady's sport. I have supreme respect for the champions who respect the sport and its values as much as they succeed in it.

I don't want tennis to watch someone threaten a line judge for making a call, or make a mockery of the sport by screaming at chair umpires.

No worries. You like her. I don't care for her. We can move on. I also couldn't stand Mc as a player.

I don't like the way she handles herself on the court. With the exception of this US Open, she is usually very whiny and dramatic. If she misses a shot, she mopes around afterwards, with a woe is me attitude. The facial expressions she gets after missing shots is simply annoying. She is an attention whoar on the court at times.

I also think that at times, she could be sandbagging bigtime. She will lose a close set, then roll off two 6-1 sets to win going away. It just seems like she prolongs matches when she shouldn't have to.

I am not denying that she is a great player, perhaps top 5 or 3 greatest ever. I just don't like the way she carries herself. Her attitude on court sucks most of the time.

Agree with bigfoot. Also, she's notorious for being an ungracious loser and can't just simply give credit to her opponent.

And this little piece from her press conference before the Open is just sad:

I still can't believe that after what she said and did to the line judge, she mentioned the other day that she wanted an apology from the lady.

She seriously has the audacity to ask for an apology from a lady she basically threatened to kill. More reason not to like her.
