Both men and women are #10. 5 of the top 10 on the women's side are SEC schools.

Women can do no worse than a tie for 5th, if Vandy beats Florida we could move up to a tie for 4th with Florida if we take our last 2. Friday is going to be a telling day for the ladies side of the bracket, Ga plays Bama for most likely all the marbles but if Vandy does pull off the "upset" of Fl another tie at the top for second year in a row. SEC tourney pairings will be interesting to see who gets higher seed given a tie, but we won't be getting a day off like we did last year. All things considered still a remarkable year with the youth and being in almost every match.

This weeks rankings of the women's tennis has 5 SEC schools in the top 11. I include 11 because after Vandy being #5 (which will drop after Florida beats this on Friday) the SEC goes #8, #9, #10, and #11. We held our spot at #10. First time I can remember we are ahead of Florida who comes in #11. There's no rhyme or reason to this insanity. Christina keeps climbing the ladder she's #8 this week on the singles list up from multiple weeks at #12, and she and Stefania move up to #23 in doubles after being unranked a couple of weeks ago to #39 last round to here.
On the men's side beating Georgia wasn't enough to move up, Ga is #9 and we held #10, go figure. Harrison comes in at #14 in singles, and Junior and Jackson drop to #6 in doubles. Somebody shoot the computer or whoever comes up with this s**T. Main thing is win, screw the rankings. Win and move on. Come on Mississippi schools, take your spankings and let's see what happens next week.

The men have their work cut out for them on the road in Mississippi....not sure of rankings but I imagine State is in the top 20 or so....a sweep would be great for the guys to get a ring...we will see...

Mississippi State men are #18 this week, while Ole Miss is #53. Based upon the "logic" of the rankings and the level of competition in the SEC as a whole irrelevant of gender, there will be 4 hard fought tennis matches this weekend no doubt. Come on Ags, Gig'em and BTHO the entire state of Mississippi.

Ags lose doubles point vs Ols Miss. Singles underway.

Ags down 3-0. Looking pretty tight with the remaining singles.

Vinsant up 4-2 in 3rd. Efferding down 1-2 in 3rd. Ore just starting the 3rd. Score is 3-1 Ole Miss.

Tied 3-3. Ore down 5-3 in the 3rd.

Ags lose 4-3. Women escape with a 4-3 win.

Considering the SEC title on the line, this would have to go down as one of the biggest chokes in Texas A&M sports history. As much as I think Coach Denton is a fat underachiever I feel bad for the players. We should have never hired a t sip as a head coach! What else does one expect when you hire a longhorn in Aggieland? How does one allow that to happen? Would never happen at t.u. Good job Bill Byrne!

And there's the longhorn coaching Aggies bit again. Give it up. You act like Denton is the reason they lost and he told them to lose. Get a life.

Most of my comments I state on here is only to get you guys riled up and boy am I good at that. I am sure there have been bigger chokes, but this was no doubt a huge choke. How often does a #10 ranked team lose to a #53 ranked team in such a big game or match in this instance this late in the season? Not often. Please let me know which sporting events at A&M have done so when so much is riding on the line against an inferior opponent. Of course Denton didn't tell his guys to lose, but he is the one responsible for preparing them to play well for such a big match. A big match in which they would have won if they did just a little bit more than show up.

Pretty much every football game we lost during the 2011 season was a bigger choke because we blew huge halftime leads. It seems like every year our men's tennis team has at least one of these matches. Last year it was against lsu.

And I believe that coach got fired if I remember correctly. And also, those teams we lost to in football were not 53 in the nation nor was our football team 10 in the nation.

Tennis is a funny game like that. These type of upsets happen quite often. Anyone can beat anyone on any given day. Playing on the road is never easy.

UK lost 4-2 to Florida, UGA up 1-0 against Auburn.

Ags WIN 4-2 against State.

So assuming UGA takes care of Auburn, Aggies will be the 2-seed in the SEC tournament.

Nice bounce back win....long season...gotta keep playing...

Women claw their way back inside the top 10 to #8, 5 women's teams from the SEC are ranked in the top 11. It's almost like the 60's when the Beatles came into existence, all you see or hear about is them.
The men slipped one spot to #11, but with the way things are going Mitchell will be hopping come May 9 and 11 with the first two rounds of the NCAA.
Does anybody know why or how Missouri got to host the women's tourney? From what I've seen their facilities aren't that outstanding, they sure don't compare that much to ours, and other than the fact of sharing the wealth, I can't understand why.

The loss at Ole Miss looks bad on paper since Miss is down in the 50s this year. For the last decade they have been a top 10 team, and this was the final home match for their coach who is retiring after a long successful run. Our guys had the motivation of the SEC, but I'm sure Ole Miss did a nice tribute and had lots of former players and the team was fired up to give their coach one last win at home..
SEC title would've been nice but in reality the team's success will be determined in NCAA getting to Elite 8 or the Final four would be a bigger result

The win last night by the women should ensure them being a host for the 1st 2 rounds of the NCAA tournament.

Men win 4 to 1.

Men play Kentucky at 10 am tomorrow.

Women playing Florida didn't start until WAY late. Take the doubles with #1 going to tie break after they came back from being down 7-4. Major drivers seat to beat Florida AGAIN.
