Great win for the men. Junior at one point won 10 games in a row to take his second set and get well ahead in the third. Quite a gut check for the Ags, particularly after sort of blowing the regular season title.

Hope this results in a nice high seed for the NCAAs. Let's hope we avoid #8 or #9 so we don't have to play #1, if we get that far. Certainly, we should get home dates for the first two rounds.

Szabo and Vinsant were also named in SEC all tournament team. Vinsant was MVP.

Looks like we wll be in 7 to 10 range when the dust settles. Solid season. Need to get to Athens and see how it shakes out. Lots of down time before the NCAA'S start. Not sure if that's good or not, but at least we will be rested and hopefully healthy.

I know I'm going against many things Aggie when I say this, but Rick, with a comment like that your Mother obviously wasn't a very good teacher was she? I think if you'll research the PURPOSE of these boards, it is not, "to get you guys riled up" and it certainly isn't to feel good about it when you do. Most, if not all minus one - YOU by admission, are on here to provide feedback and insight for those who haven't been able to attend the matches or for those that did, debate the pluses and minuses of what they saw good or bad. Both our teams are in the top 10 at what should be the perfect time of the season which is a great motivational booster for both. Don't know how much emphasis should be put on that since Duke women a #1 team for several weeks running gets handed 2 loses in one weekend by vastly inferior teams, just like our guys were dealt a set back by Ole Miss (based upon the rankings). Our teams are poised to do something this year that has never been done before by any Aggie sport team, and that is to make a serious deep run in the NCAA's in the same year in the same sport. Do I relish the thought of having a sip lead an Aggie team, no! But Dollar Bill did what he was paid to do, find the best coach at the time to bring our program to the next level, and I'll be dog if he didn't do it. And I liked Bobby a lot, but just like people say Obama is likeable he isn't up to the job, neither was Bobby. So what does he do? Go out and find Howard and overnight we are a contender and have only improved from that point since. So since your Mother wasn't able to impress upon you a good rule of thumb please read and take heart a lesson from Mother Rabbit (from Bambi) , "If you can't say something nice about somebody, don't say anything at all."

Well Groesbeck and Sign Guy it's like this. Good job by Denton and his team. They won the title which they should have and that's that. They beat some inferior teams to win the title but they did win the title and I have to give the longhorn his do. The other post about them overachieving is simply ridiculous. How have they overachieved but beating teams ranked below them?

So now they won the title that they were supposed to win? Come on. I really want to know why you have such a beef with Denton. What did he do to you? Why all the hate towards him and the team? You have a hard time giving credit where credit is due. Makes no sense.

What would you like for me to do send him a bouquet of flowers? What did he do to you that you want to defend him so much?

I just want to know the reason that you're unable to say anything positive about the sport that you apparently follow quite closely, and the sport where both the men and women are top 10. Maybe someone at A&M hurt your feelings at some point?

I would just like to know why I am not allowed to express my opinion. Did you and the creepy guy that makes the signs make the rules? I didn't know that this was only an informative site and you had to support everything on here. Being a longhorn would be enough for a lot of people to dislike Denton.

Obviously you're allowed to express your opinion. I just don't get why you are always so negative on here. Especially when the teams are doing well.

Bigfoot now that I am opening up to you by answering your question I kind of feel a bond with you. To answer your simple question the answer is no one has ever done anything wrong to me. You will have to come up with a new idea. Maybe I really have nothing against Denton. Perhaps I just love messing with all of you guys. You all love Denton so much it is hilarious to me!

I have stayed off of this part of the thread on purpose....I assume (although I have no way of being certain) that Rick is an Aggie tennis fan...I assume (although I have no way of being certain) that he goes to at least some of our matches...I assume (although I have no way of being certain) that he has talked to Coach Denton and McKinley about his concerns with the program....that being said, this is a very small board, with most of us trying to support the team and the coaches the best way we can...some can go to all the home matches...some have given money...some go on the road when the team is in their area...but I really only know of one person who seems to delight in when we are not successful....it really does not stir me up...it makes me sad...not for me, but for him...Our coaches have been here now for nearly 8 year....if they are here 16 years, are we still going to hear that they are really not Aggies....that they don't really care about our school...I wondered at what point the sips gave up ragging on Darrell Royal...did we have this animosity about Charlie Thomas...did the sips hate Willie Zapalac....I don't remember the animosity toward Emory Bellard or Donnie Wiggington when they came on board...which leads me to the question is there something personal that we don't know about...the bottom line is that I don't need an answer to any of these questions...Rick just go pull for the Aggies...delight in their successes, and hurt for their failures...there will be some of each, I am sure...but we are trending in the right direction, and all Aggie fans should enjoy the ride...

I don't watch tennis closely. But since I am in general interested in the Director's Cup more than a football championship, I do care about tennis.

There is a time and place for objective negative commentary here. We should be able to call out problems in any of our programs. A good example is the discussion on womens soccer about whether or not our program is stagnant and why can't we get through the second round of the NCAAs.

Why on earth do we care if Denton played college tennis for Texas? He was a damn good tennis player. He has been associated with TAMU before he was hired for the main campus job. I'd say he likes it here and where he chose to go to college has nothing to do with anything.

Our assistant women's swim coach was a top swimmer for Texas. I'm sure it was harder on her to get used to wearing maroon than it was for our head coach (an LSU tiger) to get comfortable with a Longhorn on the pool deck.

I don't care where our coaches come from as long as they are good, ethical, and represent our university well.

I thought it was revealed in an older thread that bigfoot10s and SlickRick are the same person/troll.
