Just mentioning that the declared athletes listing are out for the NCAA track West Regionals next week.
Both Kamaria Brown and Shamier Little would NOT be running the 400m. Kamaria Brown is only declared in the 200m and Shamier Little is only declared in the 400m Hurdles.
Ashley Collier did make both 100m and 200m list
Aldrich Bailey made the 400m.

Aggie Women Sprint and Hurdles Declarations are:
100m - 5 declared athletes
200m - 5 declared athletes
400m - 1 declared athlete
400m H - 2 declared athletes

Aggie Men Sprint and Hurdles Declarations are:
100m - 3 declared athletes
200m - 3 declared athletes
400m - 4 declared athlete
100m H - 1 declared athletes
400m H - 2 declared athletes

Are Little's chances that much better in the hurdles than in the flat 400? That was a pretty good open 400 time last weekend.

In the West Regional Performance list Shamier Little is ranked 3rd in 400m and 2nd in the 400m Hurdles. I think the coaches probably prefer she go all out in the hurdles rather than trying to run both 400m and 400m hurdles. There are also many top 400m runners who run under 52 seconds already, so it appears that it easier for her to score better in the 400m hurdles at this time. We also need her to run in the 4 x 400m relays. She did not run on the relay team at the SEC championship.
Also at the NCAA tack championship in Oregon in June, the 400m finals and 400m H finals are on the same day.
The coaches are in the best position to evaluate her chances in both events and determine where she can contribute best at this time.

The top 48 athletes in each event qualify for NCAA regionals.
Only the top 12 athletes will move on to the NCAA finals
Below are the regional qualifiers for Aggie women

200m – Olivia Ekpone, Kamaria Brown, Ashton Purvis, Aaliyah Brown, Ashley Collier
400m – Ibukun Mayumbe
800m – Katie Willard
5000m - Hillary Montgomery
10000m - Hillary Montgomery , Karis Jochen
400m Hurdles – Shamier Little, Janeil Bellille

Triple Jump - LaQue Moen-Davis , Melissa Mays, Jordan Wilson, Haley Gooch
Shot Put – Brea Garrett
Discuss – Shelbi Vaughn
Hammer – Brea Garrett
Javelin - Kendall Munoz, Krystyn Bradley
Heptathlon – Jena Hemann

Amount of Regional Event Qualifiers - 31
Amount of Qualifiers in top 12 – 14

I believe the Aggies can have more qualifers to the NCAA, if our core sprinters find form at regionals. I believe we can get at least 4 qualifiers each in both 100m and 200m

Oregon
Amount of Regional Event Qualifiers - 35
Amount of Qualifiers in top 12 – 19
Oregon have quality qualifiers in the sprints, hurdles, middle distance, distance and field events

Texas
Amount of Regional Event Qualifiers - 19
Amount of Qualifiers in top 12 – 15

The reason why Texas is no 1 is the amount of qualifiers in the top 12 that can score at NCAA. They have 19 regional qualifiers and 15 of them in the top 12.

The latest Form chart shows
TOP 10 TEAMS
Team Points
1. Texas 73
2. Texas A&M 65
3. Oregon 64

For the uninformed, are NCAA qualifiers chosen based on season best or Regional performance?
triniaggie

Your season best time or mark qualifies you to Regionals. The top 48 qualifying times or mark make it to regionals. Wind aided times are considered up to a wind reading of +4.0. Times with win readings > +4.0 were not considered in the best times for regionals.

At regionals, the top 48 athletes in each event compete for the top 12 spot to NCAA championship. If you are injured out of the regionals, then you cannot make the NCAA championship. For this reason several coaches are not in favor of regional qualifiers.
I hope this clear up some misunderstanding in the qualifying events

REGIONALS
The West Regionals will be conducted in Fayetteville over the next three days, May 29, 30, & 31. As Trini has explained, at each regional [West & East] there will be 48 participants scheduled in each individual event and 24 teams in each relay event. However, only 12 participants/teams in each event will advanced to the NCAA Championship meet in Eugene. For us to have our best chance for a national title, we need to have as many Aggies get to Eugene as possible. We desperately need our top individuals to advance. Please no injuries, no baton drops, no hurdle trips, no fouls on every attempt, etc.

Watch live Thurs [4:30 pm], Fri [5:00 pm], & Sat [6:00 pm]:

We drew decent lanes for most of the running events. Aaliyah Brown did draw lane 2 for the 200, but other than that not too bad.

A reason why coaches don't like regionals.

Why I think Laque Moen-Davis is a big loss is because she is capable of big jumps in the long jump. Last year she jumped pretty well, so it was expected she would be so much better this season but she has not jumped really well in the long this season but to end up 21st is very disappointed. If she has jumped her season's best of 6.28 she would had made it and finished 4th. The foul saga continued from the SEC. She fouled her first two jumps and then had to be conservative in her third jump and only jumped 5.97m.

Poor run again from Ashley Collier and did not make the top 24 in the 100m. It is so sad to see her end her senior year this way especially at a great track program. I don't understand how she could decline so badly over the last two years. I have not seen any reports on whether she was injured or not. The last time she probably run so slow probably in her early high school days.
Something has to be definitely wrong with her.

Texas women are so dominant in the 400m. They must be doing something great there Even their freshman and sophomores are smoking the track.

Our Mayunbe made it as the 3rd automatic qualifier in the 400m. She will have to do much better in the quarter finals to make the NCAA. She has the 14th best time.
She is another disappointed senior. She has not really progressed very much over the years. Her progression in 400m with SB times are
Freshman - 52.63
Sophomore - 53.42
Junior - 52.99
Senior - 53.22
Notice her best time was in her freshman year.

With the exception of women's long jump this day is going very well. Gotta get to the next round in order to have a chance for Oregon, and we are doing that.

Texas women are strong in 400, but our 4 strongest 400 runners happen to be even better (or at least have a better chance to score more points) in other events so I still believe the 4x4 will be a slugfest come Eugene.

To back up what Trini said about LaQue Moen-Davis possibilities, although LaQue had not done well in the long jump so far this season, Jack Pfeifer’s NCAA Formchart predicted her to finish eighth in the long jump at the NCAA Championship Meet in June.

Today was a good day for the Aggies. The only person we lost today who had at least a fair chance of earning points at Nationals was LaQue Moen-Davis in the long jump.
