Personally, I want to know the good and the bad. I do not want a whitewash of the facts.

If you aware of anything that any of us state on this forum is inaccurate, please advise us. I am sure most of us want to know what is accurate and what is innuendoes.

I don't know. It probably gets old for some people to see the same people get called a disappointment throughout the season.

There is so much that goes on in the world of track that isn't public (minor injuries, scar tissue, difficulties training due to injury, body changes going through college) that the consistent deriding of the athletes through this year has gotten rough to see.

Its one thing to mention that Collier has had a rough year and hasn't lived up tot eh promise that she showed as a Freshman.

It's another thing to continue to call her year a disappointment after every race that she runs.

It would be interesting to know what was wrong with Ashley this year. For it being her last year at Agggieland, it was definitely not her best one.

Great effort by both teams today. I was happy to see Vaughn qualify to Eugene. I am glad to see kamaria Brown and Aldridge Bailey get stronger. I can't wait to see their improvement in two weeks. Taplin was been a great surprise.

The sprints at the championships are going to be pressure filled at the championships (womens).

Every point is going to count and Florida, Oregon, A&M, and Texas all have multiple point scorers competing against each other.

I try to comment based on the facts at hand. If there are more information that we don’t have and no one wants to share it then so be it. The point is the senior have performed badly this year and we don’t know the reason. It seems like a couple of expert persons knows and don’t care to share.

So what is the solution to this? I think we should have the Track coaches and selected athletes have a weekly press conference to discuss progress of the team during the season. This will only help the track and field fans get to know the track team and coaches more and understand what is going on. This is done for Baskeball, Football, soccer etc

I looked back at last year qualifying from regionals. The condition in the west regionals was bad and the women 100m times were very slow. Oregon’s English Gardner had the fastest time in the west in 11.42. Eleven of the 12 qualifiers from the East had faster times. See list below. The performance list times were based on your regional performances and not your seasons best

Also the heat sheet that was created from the combined East and West performance list. Four fast times with four slow times Notice 4 fast times on the outside lane and 4 slow times on the inside lanes. Sometimes it is difficult running in the outer lanes but impossible to advance
Times from regionals do impact the seeding and lane assignment for NCAA championship. The impact is greater in some events over others especially 200, 400m where the inside and outside lane are difficult to run.
Only Jennifer Madu for the Aggies made the finals.

Yesterday was a really good day for both the men and the women but if all you do is read this site, you would think it was a disappointment. Of all the results, I would say the only possible disappointment was the Steeplechase.

Look at the first quote from Coach Henry on the day (http://www.aggieathletics.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=27300&ATCLID=209514130) "This was a great day for us".

Trini you do a god job posting updates, but choosing to be negative about a day that was clearly a good day wasn't necessary.

This morning you followed up all of that with your "We Will WIN the National championship 2014 for both men and women" comments. I think this explains the problem. If you are only going to be happy with championships, you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Coach Henry has had great success, but winning a championship every year is not realistic. How many other aggie sports finished in the top 4 nationally this year, like the track team looks like they will?

Bub was right about needing to be positive and I suspect I know who he is. If I am correct, he knows more than all of us for sure.

Here are some of the highlights of the day:

- top qualifying time in the 110H prelims by Wayne Davis
-4 of the 6 fastest times in the quarter finals of the 400 (inlcuding a personal best by Carlyle Roudette who is a senior)
- two qualifiers in the men's 100 (even with PJ being hurt)
- four qualifiers in the women's 100
- one qualifier with the 3rd fastest time in the men's 800
- one qualifier in the 400H with the second fastest time (a career best by Coleman and top 4 time in Aggie history)
- top two qualifiers in the women's 400h (including personal best by both Belille and Little)
- all three Aggies qualify in the men's 200 (including two heat winners)
- 4 out of 5 Aggies qualify in the women's 200 (including 3 heat winners and the top 2 times overall)
- Winning the women's discuss (by almost 10 feet in an event that lasted over 5 hours due to poor weather conditions)
-3rd place finish in the women's triple jump by LaQue to qualify for Nationals
-6th place finish in the men's hammer by Strong for his first trip to Nationals
-A top ten jump for Harris in the high jump for his first trip to nationals

Then he should share his insight with us.

This isn't the sunshine pumper forum. So if we lose a relay because they dropped the baton should they just say the Aggies tried hard? This a forum where fans exchange comments. It isn't a good news only forum. I've been through this same issue on swimming here - mostly about the state of our mens program and recruiting.

I think we should remember these athletes are college kids. I have kids in college now. I would hate to see someone blasting my child on an internet forum for no good reason. And in general there is no T&F athlete who publicly says bring it on like Johnny Manziel does.

Based on what I read here - I haven't seen much to bother me. I want to know how we perform and where we stand. It is always interesting to learn more - more about the athlete's history, consistency, etc. I like what I read here.

Brea Garrett with a HUGE throw and school record in the first flight of the women's hammer, 201'4". Still 2 flights to go, but that should get her 3 more throws and put her in position to advance.

The discussions on here should be discussing what needs to be done to win.

Comments like the fact we will have problems recruiting 400m runners because texas has 4 good ones right now, ignoring that we have runners that can run with them in the 400 only they are competing in different events other than the open 400.

That's a crazy comment that doesn't even make sense given the past history of how A&M has recruited.

halco87

Qualify people for Eugene, line 'em up in 2 weeks, may the best team win. If our group does what they are capable of doing and focuses on their races/events, I like our chances. Other teams have great coaches and athletes too, and you can't play defense. You just have to line up and beat them. Doesn't mean everything is perfect and they aren't areas to criticize, but as qualification goes it's been a pretty damn good weekend so far.

Thanks and Gig 'Em!

Looking at the men's team race, Florida and Oregon are definitely going to have to underperform expectations for A&M to have a chance. It looks like the difference between the teams is likely in the 15 point range.

The women's race is a little more interesting as A&M, Oregon, and tu look to be within 2-3 points of each other unless you believe that texas can really sweep the top 4 spots in the 400 (in that case texas will likely win going away).
halco87
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I wouldn't put huge odds on either, but if pressed I would say there is a greater likelihood our women go 1-2 in the 200 and the 400 hurdles than Texas goes 1-4 in the 400.

My gut tells me both meets are going down to the 4x4. Taplin is a wild card for the men in the 400, and while they aren't expected to score having Harris and Wolfle in the HJ and PV could pay dividends because those events are quirky enough that it may only take a couple of clearances to score. The biggest take away I have from the SEC meet is that we have athletes who want to beat you. Whether it's buy .01 or 1cm they want to be in front. I'll take my chances with those kind of competitors. It's going to be one heckuva a meet.
