Lost some projected points yesterday in the pole vault (5) and 400h (3), but should gain them back with a few surprise finalists in the javelin (3), 400, and 800.

Christensen was so mad at himself in the vault that while in the air he grabbed the pole and tried to throw it to the side where it hit an official. On 2 of Wooten's vaults it looked like the pole slipped out of the box. Sam Hardin had to have a big last throw at regionals just to make it to nationals so to get 3 points is quite the comeback. Who ran 3rd on the relay yesterday?

Yes, and probably will do so easily based on yesterday's performances.

Tech has been the No. 1 ranked team most of this indoor and outdoor season, and also last season. The past champ meets they had some issues getting the second level of point scorers to finish in the points position, and the top level guys not meeting their seasons best times. Probably will win it this year with the way their top guys are running this season

The surprise yesterday was Mondo not winning the PV. Nilsen used his NCAA experience to win and break his own meet record, and also matched the facility record set by France's Renaud Lavillenie.

Nilson got every inch out of his top clearance. He was all over the bar...surprised it stayed up. Mondo had an easy clearance over 19...not sure what happened on his subsequent attempts other than they were missed. Nilsen made it when he had to, so congrats to him.

In my earlier post I meant to write Johansson, not Christensen. Hite fouled on his first 2 throws in the discus and had to be careful on his 3rd throw. Has a lot of ground to make up to score a point.

Richardson finished 3rd in her 400m heat. Will have to wait to see if she makes the final as a time qualifier.

Her time holds up as the third best qualifier for the final.

Freshman Robinson-Jones finished 12th.

I understand UH with Carl Lewis and Leroy Burrell but how the hell did our track program with Coach Henry get passed by Tech?

Fray easily wins heat 3 of the 800 to auto qualify.

Henry has the same problem Calipari has. He has athletes going pro early at a greater clip than most programs. There are other reasons as well, but don't let this one go unnoticed.

Also, hard to "pass" someone who has 36 National Championships in only 30 years of coaching. It's only temporary, folks. There are only 4 years since 1989 where Henry didn't win at least one Conference or National Title.

Acquah sits in 6th in the LJ heading into final 3 jumps.

Hite finishes a disappointing 13th in the decathlon.

A&M is the second time qualifier to the final in the women's 4x400.

Acquah finishes 3rd and Consol's Jasmyn Steels finishes 2nd for Northwestern State.

The top 5 finishers hit PBs in the LJ.

Oregon got DQ'd in the 4x4, last form chart I saw had them winning it. That helps us both.

I was watching/listening to Stones and the lady comment during that race and was surprised that neither mentioned the possibility that taking 5 or 6 steps onto the infield during the handoff could result in Oregon being DQ'ed, even after the slow mo replay.

The coaches thought Acquah nailed her last jump but she was called for a foul. Impressive run by Fray. 3 times runners tried to pass her but she wouldn't let them. I was sitting in the front row 90 meters from the finish and the runners passed by after their races to exit the track. The 400 meter runners were the most tired. Many of them had to stop and bend over they had used so much energy. The 4 x 400 team was not happy after their race but they made it through.

Was that our finals 4 that raced the prelims? Our leadoff runner didn't look very good and put us in a hole to begin with.
