Great comeback to take the 2nd set and good finish!

Things were looking really bad late in the second set down five. But three kills by L. Davis and 2 blocks by Rush kept us from going down 0-2. Huge turning point.

Well that IS something to get excited about!

Committed 22 errors in the first 2 sets and only 9 the rest of the way. After the challenge we won in the first set Rice recovered. I counted 7 set points we missed on before winning Set 2. Play of the match was Gomez running the ball down in front of our band and passing perfectly to Hans for the kill. Just amazing that she could place the ball perfectly in that situation.
Rice had their band and cheerleaders here, with 2 violins in their band.

did they announce the attendance?

The box score on the 12man website said the attendance was 2176.

From the computer telecast it seemed more than that, but the camera angle really only shows one side of the crowd.

I don't know what the academic schedule is at A&M, but on Friday night with nothing else going on just before finals, I would have hoped that the student body would have really supported the team. They really deserve it.

I thought after the monumental collapse of the first set being up 15-4 and losing 26-28 and falling behind 18-23 at one point i think i thought we were finished
and the team from the very beginning of the season likely would have been but we crawled back and came from behind to win 32-30. I think that spelled the end of the Rice chances because they were gassed about late third set and werent able to make the comback that each team had done the first two sets

Hans was exceptional and both middles were solid. Rush and Davis both had their moments and also they had some off times as well but those times they were off matched up at the end to when our defense stepped up

The DS in the back row had some serve receive issues (not necessarily getting aced) but more placement of passes in the first three sets especially #3 serve which proven difficult. They targeted Voss which normally I would be happy with and she had an off night but really stepped up in set four and at the end of set three.

Rice's ability to set the middle from a pass in which it was not expected caught us off guard and as a VB fan was fun to watch They have a solid team and if the had held in set two would have likely won the match Their coach played under the Corbellis and has had Rice doing well for the last decade.

I couldnt be more proud of the type of team we put on the court and hope to show that we and the SEC are getting closer to an elite status by playing hard against likely Wisconsin, Nebraska and Hawaii in the regional next weekend

Give a shout out to Camille Conner. On Thursday it looked like she took a ball to the head but stayed in the game, and last night it looked like she got a bloody nose. We called time out and after the time out she came back in.
Last night is why I love watching all of our teams in the NCAA Tournament. It's a great accomplishment to make it, and then so intense when you get there.
What was the deal when the ref gave us a caution? It looked like he pulled out a yellow card. Don't think I've ever seen that before.
