It seems to be very nice however they haven't let any of the track and field officials groups into the facility to sort out how the events will be managed. The layout is different than the previous indoor--the sprint lanes are inside the oval---impacting the field events. Right now it looks like the first chance to really assess things will be on the morning of Jan 13. There will be a "tour" for the reunion group on the afternoon of the 12th.

Everything is probably in order--but it makes us nervous given this is our first meet in the new facility.

More to follow---I am a former track letterman and a horizontal jumps official.

The current team just got let in there yesterday afternoon -- meaning almost no one else except those involved in building it likely has to this point.

I would imagine Coach Henry and the rest of the coaching staff has spent plenty of time trying to assess how best to run the events and would relay that to the officials at the proper time.

I would like to drive down for the first Aggie Indoor Meet of 2024 this Saturday.

It appears that general admission is free, so how crowded do you expect it to be? If it starts at 2pm. what time should I arrive to get a decent seat? Where is the best location to park? I see the Aggies have a home basketball game next door with Kentucky also at 2pm. I am assuming the meet runs from 2pm to approximately 6pm?

I am looking forward to seeing if Issam Asinga runs on Saturday. He is the fastest High School 100/200 meter runner of all time.

It should be a good crowd, but I don't assume it'll be entirely crowded! It's a small meet with only 2 other schools from Texas! I say get there a little before 2 so you can find your spot for the day and look around the new complex! You can park in the 2 garages near Kyle or in lot 61/62 for free, if I'm not mistaken!

Here's a link to info on the meet

FYI, the track events start at 2, but the field events start somewhere between 9 and 10.

Issam Asinga is in the "receiving votes" category on the pre season Bowerman watch list… which means some voters probably held back because of the suspension from World Athletics, but if he does run he can be a Bowerman favorite especially because there hasn't been a sprinting phenom with his talent in the 60-100-200 like him! I'm getting excited

Let's see now Highschool sprint phenomenon in the last decade or so

Just to name a few below…I'm hopefull that IA will come out strong, but the key will be maintenance over the next 3-4 years…I think at this point he has the potential to go finals in the 200 indoors and the 100 and 200 outdoors…my prediction if he wins gold it will only be in the 100 at nationals..One thing we always have to remember that body strength and stamina of an 18-19 year old athlete is very rarely capable of a sprint double at nationals… my predictions only..but hey I'm not always right..just mostly though..lol

Matt Boilin
Anthony Swartz
Trentavious Friday
Travon Bromell

Also as a caveat to that, with no Jordan Anthony available for anchor…it would seem he may need to run anchor in the 4x1… as we have 3 returners that took them to nationals last year…with IA running anchor, we are a sure bet to make finals in the 4x1 at nationals..possibly a shot at top 3…just need to see a few outdoor meets and how well the group executes the exchange…

The alternating day schedule at nationals ruined doubling in the 100-200. I miss the old schedule.

But one's an Aggie, and it's been a while since we had a sprinter of his caliber so not only will I overhype the guy, but I suggest we all The race versus Lyles really shot him into superstardom and who's knows if he's even here if he were able to compete at the World Championships! I think if he were to race in the summer he probably could've went down to a 19.8 which is why I think he can pull off the double! But to do that and the relay will be tough!
taylorswift13_
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Relay wise I agree! Henry has ran his top sprinter 2nd leg a lot of the time, but hard to not put Asinga at anchor! I really wish Jordan Anthony would have stayed because I think he gets points in the 60 which could be the difference between a national championship! Devantae Mount should continue to start with Ryan Martin second or last, Teer/Chopane can run a solid 3rd leg, but I'm also interested to see the health of Keanu Jones! Either way handoffs will be important but it'll be fun watching Asinga run down some poor souls!

Also I believe school starts the 16th and add/drop is another 5 days, so we still have a week or so to find another transfer if needed (cough cough @ Coach Henry)

Excited to see Victor Kibiego running a 3000! He is the reigning NCAA Bronze Medalist in the steeple, but hasn't ran well indoors! Hopefully that changes now that he has an indoor facility to call home!

How long do you want to ignore this user?
My guess is that it's a long season and we will need him to do a lot for us! We know qualifying for nationals won't be an issue, so we need his legs ready to go when it's matters most! Just like with Lamara! When you're a shoe in for nationals you only need 1 meet to shake off the rust and/or qualify!
taylorswift13_
How long do you want to ignore this user?
And a reminder to all! Indoors is set up differently! To qualify to nationals an athlete must be in the top 16 of their respective event! Top 16 per event and top 12 relays!
