Also for the few in here, should I make the 2024/2025 thread after Paris and into the new school year?

Or

Sometime this month and get it rolling

I want to start a cross country one so we can have it separate from the track one! And a new recruiting one that focuses on recruits for this year!! I'm really excited for cross country and want to give those athletes their own thread so we can highlight what we do, I'm expecting a huge season!

I think starting the track board sometime in August would be good so we can more or less know who's enrolled and what transfers are in/out for the coming year!

Rumor has it that Georgia runner Hassim Hatib of Georgia has committed to us! He has a 400 PR of 45.12 and a 200 PR of 20.88! That would be huge if true!!

Just an FYI, if he is on an F1 visa, as most international student-athletes are, he can only work on-campus without significant additional approval from the international office on campus.

F1 work status

So let's not get him deported in our haste to help.

Lamara Distin jumps 6'4.75 or 1.95 for a 4th place finish at the Paris Diamond League!!! Her pro career is off to a great start!

The world record went down in that same event - an amazing 2.10m (6-10 3/4)

That jump was incredible!! You rarely see speed like that running up to the bar but she times it perfectly!!

Question for 4x400 history experts:
I haven't fact checked this but if my memory doesn't fail me, Auhmad Robinson has split sub-44 seconds in every NCAA outdoor 4x4 final he has run.
2021 (SFA) - 43.45
2023 (TAMU) - 43.9X(?)
2024 (TAMU) 43.20(!!!!!!)
Has anyone in NCAA history ever done this before? He could make it 4-for-4 in 2025 which would be a MASSIVE!

good question. Michael Johnson , Jeremy Weiner, Van Niekerk possibly. I read where Johnson ran sub 44 in 22 races but think that was in the open.

I don't think van Niekerk ran in an NCAA 4x4 outdoor final. Not sure what conference University of the Free State is in.

I'm not sure if you all have seen the international talent the Arkansas men have added to their distance roster but it is insane! Added 2 African runners who will be their new top 2 and added a 1:45 JUCO guy

I couldn't watch the women's 800 race, but it looked like Mu had a disastrous race looking at the results. Fast first lap and then fell apart in the second? Curious what's going on.

She led at 200M to go. She got out kicked easily by 150 to go. She jogged the last 30 to 40 meters.

I hope she figures it out.

Wow, just watched it. That's crazy. Hopefully she can turn things around. At some point it seems like a change in coaching is drastically needed.

I'm not sure if anyone was more upset about her betraying us only a few weeks after she said she was an Aggie for life and loves Texas A&M, but I'm really rooting for her to get back on her feet! I believe shortly after running out of eligibility the tu loser coaches kicked her out of their training group, now she's been training at Texas State! She got to 22 feet earlier this season with a strong wind but hasn't really done much since!!!

Coach Flo convinced her that Pat Henry was overtraining her and ruining her career doing the heptathlon… she had so much potential in that event but she's only been long jumping now, I really wish she stuck with the multis, she was a star

As for Mu, I'm surprised she even ran… and that should say everything! The Kersee/LA experiment has been a complete failure

Right after the Olympics they told everyone she tore her hamstring a month or so before the trials but somehow she ran, and instead or resting or getting surgery, she ran again a month later… Kersee is trying to save himself from the idea that he's ruining Mu's career… she hasn't ran a 400 once under him and hardly ever races… Mu had the entire track world at the palm of her hands but her comments about how track isn't important to her and never seeing on her the track have really turned many fans against her…

Mu needs to leave LA and Kersee if she really wants to win again…

And after watching that race, Mu has zero speed to finish with girls who actually race throughout the year… hmm I wonder how she trained when she used to have a kick
taylorswift13_
9:41p, 7/19/24
And this race was meant for Mu to show USATF and the track world that the US should change their selection process for the Olympics… she was supposed to go out there and show everyone how wrong they were for not giving her an automatic spot to the Olympics… yet couldn't place top 3 in a simple race

I really wanna see them both in mixed gender relay and want to see what they split!!!

With Wilson, it's different, usually with high school phenoms, they're built like pros already, Wilson looks so young and I wanna see how he runs when his body is matured… he might change the 400 forever, let's hope he keeps loving the sport and can handle the work load, I'm excited
