You gotta seriously worry about Wedgy a little after this one.

Makar is back.

This series is evidence enough for me that you have to encourage your best skating defenseman to use their god given abilities. Aka they gotta let Lundkvist off the leash more and let him use his abilities. What's the point of having guys on the backend that can change a game with their legs if you don't let them use them.

We made Walstedt look like an All-Star and the Avs are lighting him up like a Christmas tree.

Don't shoot the puck enough or crash the net.

This series is going to be a track meet.

I think team speed is as much a part of it as anything… COL is working in more open space.

Exit interviews today.

So far of note:

Jim Nill isn't speaking today, but he will at a later date. We should get a full injury rundown then.

Gulutzan says he wants Jamie back next season but isn't sure what he's thinking. They're supposed to speak Wednesday. Jamie says says he doesn't know what he will do next season. In his words: "We'll see. Hopefully."

Rantanen wasn't injured in the playoffs, just lingering effects of Olympic injury. He's refusing to say what the injury was but says he felt fine by the start of playoffs but was never ale to to gate back to the same level he was before the Olympic break.

Hintz would not have been available to start Round 2 but would have likely been ready mid-round (game 3 or 4). He tore his hamstring in 2 places initially. He was close to getting back when he re-injured it. He should be back and fine for training camp.

Seguin says he'll be ready to go for Day 1 of training camp. Says he'll be back stronger than ever.

Nils is fine. Says the injury looked worse than it was. He would have been fine and ready to play Round 2.

Otter says didn't accomplish any of his goals: Stanley Cup, Vezina, starting for Team USA.
Plans to consult with Ben Bishop this offseason. Says he need to "get smarter" at the position.

Bastian broke his hand and had a screw put in. Was available for Game 6. Wants to be back next year.

Bourque wants to be back next year. Thinks he took a big step this season but has more to give.

Robertson says he understands it's business (when discussing potential contract negotiations). Says he's "optimistic".

Miro tore an oblique muscle 4/9 against Minnesota. Was never fully recovered but should be back to 100% this offseason.

Quote:

Miro Heiskanen says he tore an oblique muscle in the final Dallas/Minnesota game in the regular season. Happened the shift before the Hartman hit.

Heiskanen said the injury was slowly improving each game, but that he'll get fully healthy over the summer.

could be lip service.
God loves you so much He'll meet you where you are. He also loves you too much to allow to stay where you are.

It's tough for any franchise to guide a longterm, class act, face of the team toward the "We are grateful for your service" door.

I really wish Brendan Morrow had won a Stanley Cup for Dallas and the same for Jamie Benn.

Watching this game… we would've been smoked by both. Sooo much faster than us.

The thing that strikes me the most of that both teams have a clear plan. Felt like we're just hoping to get by in round 1.

Colorado is a wagon.

Miro was hurt. Lunds got hurt. Roope torn hamstring. Seguin torn ACL. Mikko just wasn't right.

Insane lucky bounces for MIN and we were close but Colorado would be skating all over us.

Nice watching some of Colorados bigger players punish undersized skaters for the Wild. Wish we had some people who could've knocked these guys around instead of letting them skate circles around us.

Jeff Marek on his podcast reported/spoke about the Robertson situation:

"I do think that there's a contract that...has been out there for Jason Robertson, but he doesn't want it, and that's the Thomas Harley deal; the Mikko Rantanen deal still isn't appetizing for Dallas [to offer to Robertson]"

Aka he's been offered give or take 10.5 and probably wants 12 at minimum, and Dallas is very hesitant to give it out.

Canes and Avs possibly. Too early for the other 2. Way to stick your neck out there from left field and explain why.

And rather than post a million tweets, here is what Owen Newkirk posted about all-season injuries:
Quote:

Jamie Benn collapsed lung in training camp and had a concussion

Lian Bichsel fracture to his leg in his ankle area, sprained shoulder in Game 6

Michael Bunting groin injury last in regular season

Matt Duchene Concussion in October

Adam Erne MCL sprain in December

Radek Faksa Concussion at Olympics during recovery in Dallas he suffered foot laceration during an optional skate, had a ligament cut that required surgery. Messing with his foot function, may require further surgery, seeing a specialist Nill has never seen this in hockey.

Thomas Harley broken foot in November.

Miro Heiskanen suffered an oblique tear vs. Minnesota in April was getting better each game, he also sprained his ankle in the playoffs.

Roope Hintz illness during Olympics, first game back suffered a double tear in his hamstring they didn't know the time frame because of extent of injury close to returning, then re-injured (no surgery needed).

Arttu Hyry high ankle sprain in Game 5, got slew-footed probably another 2-4 weeks to recover.

Nils Lundkvist fracture to leg/ankle identical injury to Bichsel. Facial laceration in playoffs. Stitches inside & out also had concussion. Possible Game 7 or 2nd round return.

Tyler Seguin Torn ACL at NY Rangers

Sam Steel groin injury late regular season

Tyler Myers groin injury late regular season

Ilya Lyubushkin shoulder mid-season

Everyone is banged up at this time of year, but that is an insane list of injuries that even goes back early into the regular season.

Also makes me eager to see what a fully healthy and *motivated* Mikko will do next year. Already seeing stuff online about how Carolina "won" the Rantanen trade, all because lil Stanky got off to a hot start in the playoffs.
