Brad Alberts was on the Ticket this morning talking about the new arena. Nothing earth-shattering, but he confirmed what we've all been speculating: the NHL is not a TV revenue-driven league, so the Stars are becoming a real estate company to help keep them competitive financially.

Have not started the design process for the new building yet, but it will be slightly smaller than the AAC capacity-wise. Fewer suites and more premium/club areas with an emphasis on technology.

Cited transportation as a priority that "they're studying." I doubt they'll solve anything with DART so it sounded like lip service, but at least they're looking at it.

I'm concerned about parking. There appears to be even less parking and no DART. Everyone going to Uber in?

They're going to push the limits on how high they can get ticket prices.

Moving was always what the Stars wanted to do. The Mavs new ownership gave them the perfect cover to do so without much criticism.

Will be interesting to see if they do the seat licensing fees like the Cowboys did. (PSLs?)

Don't believe they had those around when AAC was originally built.

Are there going to be hotels and/or meeting space at these developments? I have to think whichever one, Stars or Mavs, can get connected to public transit first will have an actual advantage in attracting visitors over the other. And DART should probably be knocking at their doors with all the studies that point that out.

Another depressing point is former Dallas athletes winning it all. Jalen Brunson and Stankoven. Happy for Stank (if they win) but hurts to know our talent left and ended up winning it earlier than they would've in Dallas.

He also won over 30 games as a backup in the regular season. Embarrassment of riches at goalie for Carolina. Crazy how a hockey goalie can have a great season and playoffs, then struggle for 2 periods, get replaced and lose the starting job in the championship series.

Disagree with your last sentence - he's a beast. The Spurs have a lot of good years coming.

Changing the goalie isn't necessarily an indictment against him, it happens a lot, and it doesn't indicate a culture problem or whatever. Sometimes a change is needed.

Andersen has not been listed as injured, and he has not suited up since being pulled. They have a different backup to Bussi. I think it's more of a mental/emotional situation with him. Perhaps his relationship Claude Lemieux is a factor.

For what the cost is:

The picks going to Ottawa will be the 9th overall pick this year, 25th overall this year, 2029 first-round pick and a 2030 second round pick.
I think the Senators tried on Lundell but Florida held firm, Panthers view him as a 1C. Didn't want to trade him.

My understanding is the Senators also had conversations with Carolina and Vegas, other teams that were on Tkachuk's list. I also think Minnesota was on the list. Four-team list but in the end, Brady obviously wanted to go join his brother in Florida.

Seems odd that Ottawa would be in semi rebuild mode with all those picks and then make a big offer for a goal scorer in his prime, no?

The biggest thing missing from their team was a goal scorer imo. Robertson would be what the doctor ordered.

That tweet/post is also worded in a way that makes me think Robertson is one foot out the door.

Two of those FLA 1st round picks and Sanderson the D-man would be a pretty good haul for Robo. Since Nill has traded most 1st for the next few years away acquiring players

The only way I'm taking a pick or a picks for Robo is if it's in the top 5 this year. That would at least give us a young player, likely D-Man, that would come in a start day one. Chase Reid and Keaton Verhoeff would be ideal. Then you spread robos money around to go get others.
