Yeah, hotbed of hockey up north. They will be fine on fans.

Too bad you never went to a playoff game at Reunion Arena. It was the best experience ever especially playoff games.

So what we're looking at 2029-2030 before either of these two arenas are ready right?
Believe the lease is up in 2031

Don't like this at all. AAC is the only arena I've ever known.

I might get season tickets again for the first time since 2003. Living in Mckinney, I was not willing to drive to downtown Dallas after this 6 years that I had tickets. For every fan whose commute will get worse there is one for which it will be better.

I'm not going to pretend to know the details of the lease, but I'd bet money the Stars & Mavs find a way out early. Even if it means buying it out. If hockey is played at the AAC in 2030, I'd be shocked.

I suppose the thought is the Arlington teams aren't affected by it, so why should the other 2 care?

One thing I haven't thought all the way through is corporate purchases of suites and tickets.
I know a lot of companies have moved up north but there are a lot of very well off companies in uptown and surrounding areas who I'm sure have purchased suites that may not be as interested anymore.
Our company is located near love field and had a prime suite since AAC opened and zero chance we will be purchasing one for stars if they are at willow bend

When Mike Keane scored that 3rd Goal in game 7 in '99 the damn building was shaking.

Love Field is 9.4 miles from Valley View vs 4 miles from the AAC.
That said, Willow Bend is 19 miles.
Edit: I see now that you were only talking about willow bend. Sorry, been reading both Mavs and Stars threads.

All good my friend. Been an easy trip to jump on the tollway at mockingbird and make it to AAC in 10 minutes. Willow bend is a lot further obviously but even the valley view site I wonder about traffic and getting in/out

I can second that! Those Dallas Sidekicks games were a lot of fun at Reunion also.

It sucks they're leaving a perfectly good building. But if teams are going to move, they need to be on a rail lone or they need to develop a plan to get rail to it.
(Not just a Dallas problem; urban design sucks across all of Texas.)

One of the only positives is that they will get to build a barn specifically for hockey, which I appreciate.
Pay over $500 million to renovate the AAC in a city that sided with the Mavs? Or receive $700 million from Plano toward building a new arena and entertainment district for 365 revenue?

Doesn't seem like a tough decision. pic.twitter.com/A70CLsWpP7

For those that don't X, it'll be more like Globe Life (although he said Jerry World, I pictured the Rangers with what he was describing), where fans can walk around and still be able to see the game from the concourse. I like that and it'll likely draw in more casual fans, but also loved the old Reunion days where it felt like fans were right on top of the ice causing havoc for the opponent (it was so freaking loud in there when things were going good).

Yep, done right - which I expect them to - the end result should be a very good hockey experience for fans and the players.
