Good question. Maybe the site of the old Austin American Statesman building though that would be a traffic disaster. Maybe "Dog's Head" area that was recently annexed by the city

I think that halfway point is a real sweet spot for that population of the Texas Hill Country.. Locals down there can educate us but I remember Mark Davis (Raiders) wanting to relocate them to the Austin-San Antonio Vertiplex (I-35, vertical city layout) and Jerruh flat out stomped on the idea with his puppet commish. If memory serves, the Davis family had substantial acreage of land development for a new stadium.

All I know is this will be interesting to see play out. Texas at least deserves, and has the market for another NHL franchise. In fact, having another team within a 3-4.5 hr commute would be a fun weekend to enjoy and rib our newest rivals in ASA or god forbid, Houston. (Love ya H-town = )

I'm going to manifest San Jose.

I see your San Jose. What about Detroit? Are they in the market for a player of his experience, youth, and skillset? They could use a dynamic player like Jason.

But, The Original Six still clinging to that Eliot Ness ego it seems like...

I think they definitely could. Bad news is Detroit doesn't have their pick this year and I don't want Larkin particularly. I would take Seider, but I'm not sure they're willing to trade him and I think it would cost another pick from Detroit to get it done.

The reason I say San Jose is because they have quite a lot of assets and could use those to get to Celebrini (a top 10 player already) a guy to play with to take them to the next level. In return San Jose can give you assets that do help this team next year, even if they are young. San Jose's biggest issue last year was that they didn't have a guy who could play alongside Celebrini on his level. Robo does that for them and puts pucks in net.

I didn't buy a Robo jersey because I was worried about this contract negotiation.

Him holding out during training camp on his last deal really showed what his mindset is.

Unless he does a total 180, looks like Robo's played his last game for the Stars. Not surprised, had a feeling this was going to be the outcome back during the winter. Won't be too sad over him getting dealt, assuming we get a good haul in return. Amazing to me that he could see others on the team taking "friendlier" contracts in an attempt to build the best team and he still thinks he's as valuable as Draisatl. He's nowhere close to that level of player.

I just hope they can do something with him before this draft. With as much as we can probably get for him, I don't want the draft right in front of us to go by and us not be involved.

Holy Jesus Alex Tuch for 8x10.5……there's no way Robo is singing now. Why can't he get 15? Skies the limit.

How much can the Stars realistically get for trading Robo's rights?

It would have to be a sign and trade to get any value. I'm not sure that the value is as high as people might think.

The need to sign him to likely does decrease his value slightly, but he's one of the best goal scorers in the NHL and he's a huge, skilled dude. I see no reason he should go a penny less than what Tkachuk went for in terms of picks.

I'd be looking to shed all other salary that I can instead. Young, 82 game machine, 80-100 point machine. And they are going to shed him over about a million dollar AAV difference. They better get a tremendous return

Therein lies our issue as fans trying to read the tea leaves from the front office. I've said it before here and I'll say it again to reiterate.
Jim Nill (god bless him, great guy) is the master of the "art of the deal" from a national NHL pundit level at the trade deadline, but he always sputters to get over the hump. Time and Time and Time again. A broken record is a definition of insanity.

The last GM for the Dallas Stars when they won Stanley's Cup was Bob M'fin Gainey. Guess what? He's 72 years old and bored. Pull him into the owners office for 2-3 years to be the Liaison after Gaglardi is persuaded to fire Nilly and hire Modano for the GM position. Boom, there's a front office on a death mission to win the Cup.

Establishing a winning culture is no small task. Just ask the Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox about their droughts.

Bring in Winners, Create Winners, Be Winners. Nothing less.

Let's just put this out there; I absolutely do not want to move Robo. I would much rather keep Robo and move someone like Hintz. But the reality is we cannot pay him 14 million per year and he's probably the most tradable asset on this team not named Wyatt (who is untouchable rn).

If we were to give robo that money, even if we do trade Lybu, you are filling out your bottom two lines with essentially all two way players making couch cushion change (being a bit over the top I know), and leaving yourself incredibly thin. On top of that you STILL do not fix the LW problem or the RHD problem. You could make the argument that you just sort of deal with it this year and reset next year when Seguin's 9.985 or whatever comes off the books, but by that time Bourque has left, you still have no draft picks, and you have to hit FA hard.

Trading Robo for a haul now, so long as you get some assets back that can help you next year and for years to come (not just picks), makes the most financial, short term and long term, sense for this team imo.

IF (and it's a big IF) you can get that type of return, then you do that deal all day. If you can't get that, then I think you have to get creative to make cap room and re-sign him.

Frankly, I thought the Stars kind of made their choice here when they traded for and then extended Mikko. So I wouldn't be surprised to see a trade, it's just seemed to be fated since they got Mikko. And IMO, it's the right choice. Robo doesn't scare teams the way Mikko does (when healthy).

I hear you on Robo's value. I just wasn't sure how the RFA situation would affect his value.

I guess there are some similarities to when Dallas traded for Mikko. Of course Robo is wanting way more than Mikko money.

That's actually the report being spread now, is that Dallas is seeking a Mikko Rantanen level trade for Robo. Which I think is a pretty fair ask considering Robo is four years younger than Mikko. I do think Mikko is a better player, but age is a big factor. Obviously in the preferred world I think Dallas would want less picks and more personnel to help then replace Robo now but who knows.

Paying Robo $14 million would mean that you're basically giving up on this year.

Then you're hoping for some relief in free agency the next year. That Seguin money won't go very far in today's FA market.

I think an argument can be made that it's bad roster construction to tie up so much money to two wingers. 25% of the cap would be going to Mikko and Robo.

Robo is only on the ice for 18 minutes a game. Huge impact when he scores, but depth matters so much in hockey.

You just can't win a cup while rolling out garbage on the 3rd and 4th lines. This team is already short a top 6 forward. That problem gets even worse if Bourque gets offer sheeted away.

I'd hate to see a home grown player like Robo leave, but it's possible to have a better team after. Could get faster as a team and add players that impact multiple lines.

Couldn't agree more. You're in a lot of ways punting on next year unless you get a Vezna or Norris level year from Otter or Miro/Harley, and even then I don't know if that's enough. Again I'd really like to get some young talent through the door that can also help this team next year. That is my ideal world. They may not be Robo, but they give you better depth, pace, and potential over the long haul.

So it's clearly not all money. Now we know.

I think he likes Dallas and would prefer to stay but is also wanting the 14M because he took the bridge deal.

With that being said, I would assume he's got maybe 3 teams that can give him that money that he would be okay going to.
