I am very surprised nothing has been agreed to yet. For the Stars you absolutely, positively do not want to go into todays draft having done nothing. Heck it's been reported that their plan has been to try to obtain a top 10 pick so they can then flip it for Knies, which isn't a bad strategy. Clock is absolutely ticking here. If they can't figure something out by draft time I think it's a pretty big L for the Stars.

When Robo can decline every deal it really ties up the Stars' hands.

I wonder what the Stars have been offering. Have they offered a contract up to 13M? Would Robo accept that?

Everything I've seen is 8x12 and that's it.

If that happens then it's more about Robo (or his agent) dicking over the Stars than the Stars "failing". They had a trade done with Seattle, presumably Robo had indicated he'd be open to playing there only to turn down a massive contract from Seattle. The realistic options are either he stays in Dallas at around what Mikko makes, or gets traded somewhere else and makes more. Robo's camp seems to be in fantasy land thinking he can get $14M from Dallas (he can't) or can get traded to a contended with lots of cap room (ain't many of them around). An interesting note is that Robo's agent is the one that kind of screwed up Mikko's deal with Colorado, so this could be as much his agent screwing things up.

Part of me thinks that yeah, this is part and parcel with Robo, dude never showed he had that dog in him but just wants things handed to him. So even if he stays in Dallas I'm kind of done with the guy and don't think he'll bring a Cup to Dallas.

Agreed…gonna be almost impossible for him to walk it all back and re-up if he strings them along and kneecaps their leverage. I kinda wonder if this next season might be a small step back given the cap reality…then try to load up again next offseason with a lot more cap space. Just crappy situation for a team that's so close.

Elliotte Friedman says Dallas is not only still actively trying to trade Jason Robertson (potentially without a contract), but is also expected to aggressively pursue Zach Werenski from Columbus.

I would make that trade as it would shake up the team but stay pretty much the same in talent.

I would 100% trade for Werenski. Werenski and Miro would be the nastiest d-pair in a hot minute, and would give us a much much more consistent group as whole. The only downside is that he'll be a UFA in 2028, but not the worst thing ever.

For a trade idk how it works. I am sure Columbus would be fine getting Harley back in a deal such as that, and the contracts are only about a million different. But there would have to be more in that trade on our side and I don't know what else we have that Columbus would want. So maybe you trade Robertson for a haul of picks and players, then you flip those picks and Harley for Werenski? There's no way Robertson is going to Columbus, so I don't think a one for one or straight up trade works.

They need to do something with Robo before anything can happen though. Get him gone idc, but do something so you can then make other moves. Robo is keeping us from doing literally anything else right now.

ETA: I would like this if I were Harley from on Hockey perspective. I think he needs his own team to be the best version of himself. Living in Ohio would suck, but you have the runway to be the best version of yourself for your prime.

If they end up just trading Robo's rights without a sign and trade then the Stars won't be getting much in return. It will largely be for cap relief. The FA pool isn't great and the Stars won't have many assets to trade.

Robo is making this difficult for Nil to do anything. Have to wonder if the relationship between the Stars and Robo is completely severed at this point.

I think you'd just sign him to the 8x14 then and punt on next year and figure the future out from there. His value is probably cut in half if not more if you cannot sign him like you said.

What do we think the odds are we see a resolution to the Robertson saga before Wednesday? IMO, I don't think anyone will risk signing him to an offer sheet; I don't think he's seen around the league as being worth several first round picks.

I don't think almost anyone in the league not named McDavid, Makar, McKinnon or Celebrini is worth four first round picks tbh.

I also do not think anything is getting done by Wednesday. Sure seems like Robo is going to force the Stars to give him what he wants, which is going to tank us financially. It's been pretty widely reported that the doesn't want to leave Dallas.
