Teenager shoots and kills mom's abusive boyfriend. Teen is arrested and charged with murder.

I'm thinking he saved her from a violent death in the future.

Bingo.

There's also the fact that I have very little faith in the justice system unless it's in a very conservative area.

And from reading the article, it sounds like the world is a better place in general without Hyde in it.

While it's a sad thing anytime someone dies, in this case to me it's justified for the kid to protect him and his Mom.

Not really. People make choices and deal with the consequences. Can't really muster up much sympathy for a worthless ******* that beats his woman.

Based on the limited account provided by the article, if a driver of a vehicle is being punched and therefore unable to maintain control of the vehicle, I would feel that my life is in danger and deadly force is authorized under the statute at least here in TX. What are the laws in Ohio? Is this an activist judge? Things to consider when deciding to act.

it's amazing, KBTX will cover this from Ohio but won't touch the fiasco the CoCS did buying part of the mall with tax payers money

I'm torn. Why is mom associating with this guy? Why didn't she kick the boyfriend to the curb? Was she complicit in the abuse? Was she getting something out of it in return? Why didn't mom break up with him? Why isn't there a restraining order? If mom wants to be in the relationship, it's not the son's place to end it.

I'd probably still acquit, but I'm angry at the mom and kid for not taking a different path to solve their problem.

Google "codependency"

Aside from that often being a contributing factor, just up and leaving is not as simple as most people think.

So she'll have another abusive boyfriend soon for her son to kill.

One of the more nutso thing about abusive relationships is that it's extremely hard for the one being abused to get away. Either by actions of the abuser or by actions of the one being abused in coming back to them over and over again. :/

Depends a bit on the timeline and additional context. If I were a juror I would go into it thinking I'm unlikely to convict the kid of murder, but I definitely disagree with those saying there's nothing wrong here. As abhorrent as punching her is, the appropriate punishment for the abuser is not the death penalty.

Not surprised the "sanctity of life"/"conservative" crowd is fine with vigilante justice.

I think no matter what the kid needs some serious counseling/rehab because he clearly experienced some serious trauma.

It wasn't clear to me that that shooting happened in the car while driving. If that were the case, I would be much more likely to acquit.

Because local media won't tackle any tough topics like why overpaid city employees like to dabble in real estate using tax dollars like they are playing Monopoly.

Except I usually have people pay me money on my properties when I play. The CoCS does it backwards.

Have yall never looked at a local news station website before? That's just the syndicated news feed from the station's corporate ownership. Hence why Gray News is credited at the top. It's not like KBTX flew a reporter to Cincinnati to cover it.

Medal. Hyde won't be around to terrorize any more women and children.

I have become an advocate for public whipping of domestic abusers. Jail is nothing for them, but a public caning like Singapore's model reinforces the idea that hurting someone else means you get hurt, too.

Arrested for domestic violence and released. Immediately resumed abusing a woman that same day.

The girl I took to Senior Prom was being beaten by her husband on a regular basis. I don't know if she ever reported it. She got tired of it and stabbed him to death one day. Then she took his body and put on top of her in bed to make it look like he was on top of her and beating her.

She was convicted of murder and I believe is still serving time.

Guess I dodged a bullet not continuing that relationship.

As you didn't beat her I think you would have been ok.

This is coming from someone whose mom "left with the kids" about a dozen times growing up because of abuse.

Yes. It. Is.

Evil men continue to do evil when "moral men" excuse their actions and allow them to continue doing evil.

Fix the justice system so that POS scum bags like this can't get out and continue to abuse or you will see ALOT more vigilante justice.

Most vigilante justice occurs because the justice system cares more about the perpetrators than they do about obtaining justice for the victims and preventing criminals from being able to commit crime again.

Stop showing more compassion to the perps than the victims.
