The novel Artamne ou le Grand Cyrus by Madeleine and Georges de Scudry. Been reading it since Wednesday night before Thanksgiving. I'm on page 4,188 almost 1/3 done. It has 13,095 pages but reads fast.

The Count of Monte Cristo. Listening, actually. It's about 48 hours long.

I found 12 Drizzt the drow books at a used book store and have been reading through them.
Not as good as I remembered but still fun. They were not cheap and my wife thinks I am immature now

Audiobooks don't count.

Nah audiobooks count regardless.
This isn't a competition to show how smart or educated you are. You read or listen to audiobooks for enjoyment and it doesn't matter what someone else thinks "counts".
It's that same attitude that drives people and especially kids away from reading. Same thing with people who say reading graphic novels don't count as reading.

And people saying "i ReAd 400 bOoKs ThIs YeAr" when 397 were audiobooks listened to on their commute to work should be called out and SHAMED!

Because listening is a different cognitive function then reading. Absolutely nothing wrong with it if that is the preferred format, but its inaccurate to say reading. Reading 50 books over a year is much different than listening to 50 books. That's my hill and will die on it! (not serious of course, just antagonizing because this debate always entertains meTX_COWDOC said:NWE said:

Its almost like reading sparknotes or watching the movie. Its just not the same.
And listening to audiobooks for "efficiency" is a super depressing sentence. Our society has the attention span of a goldfish now.
