Unfortunately, to my knowledge there were no tias or abuelas directly involved in the creation of these tamales. I bought them from a Mexican restaurant here in town. Fortunately, it's a really good spot - it's more of a pan-Mexican spot and definitely not Tex-Mex, but they make their corn and flour tortillas in house and are just all-around really great. I have hopes for the tamales.

I don't know. I put those tires on when I bought the truck a few years ago. Lots of tread left. I'll see what Pilgers thinks. I didn't hit anything.
