1080 in '86.
Was in the top 10% of my high school class, so "I got in."

980. I was drunk taking the test. Earned my way into TAMU through the summer probationary program.

There were 4 of us who were already accepted into the program and taking the SAT was just a check that box activity that needed to be checked. We all started in the parking lot taking shot of Tequila after coming back from Mexico after a night of partying.

The rest is history.

I never took the SAT. I took the ACT twice and went from a 23 to a 27, was Top 10%. I knew I wanted A&M, so it was the only school where I submitted an application. This was in the Fall 1994.

Thanks to the millions of smart foreigners we brought in, our average scores are now much higher.

Took mine fall of 98. Got a 1080.

Didn't really have a great counseling program at my high school. Nobody really did much education on SAT and ACT test scores and their true importance. I never heard about test prep programs. I showed up on a Saturday morning after a football game (was in band, and thankfully it was a home game and we didn't have any competition that weekend), sat down and just took the test. Pretty sure I answered every question, a lot were best guesses. Was able to take short 5 minute naps in-between sections.

I obviously wasn't too concerned. Knew I was going to community college and would be transferring into TAMUG.

I had a similar experience in Fall 1984. Our HS counselors were useless.

Wait a sec.....your high school had counsellors? Sweet!

Think I saw the one I was assigned once in 4 years, and that was only so I could get the form to have an off period during my last semester of senior year(mom said no because I was the driving my younger sister and some of her friends to school).

Best thing mine did was my freshman year. They had screwed up everyone's schedule, and I ended up in a Vocational Typing class. My counselor got me out of that and got me into Biology. She always frowned on my taking Vo Ag classes, though. When I got an HLSR scholarship, my ag teacher went and rubbed it in her face .

High school for me was block scheduling. Spring of sophomore year was taking either animal science of wildlife management (both were only half semester classes) in the winter part of the semester. Can't remember which came first, probably wildlife management, but when it came time to change the other wasn't in the same class period. So for at least 1-2 days, I was in the floral design class ( whole lotta nope for me). Got my chemistry class changed, went from pre-ap (honors) to the dumb dumb class. Best thing I had happen. Chem teacher taught us how to make wine, got an easy A in chem, and got an easy A in a vocational class.

My post was weak?

Or, the scores were weak?

Or, both?

First time I took it I got a 1000.

I still don't know whether to say I scored "a thousand" or "ten hundred."

I thought I had already posted this but don't see it. I made an 1,154 on the SAT and a 28 or 29 on the ACT (not too sure on the ACT). This was in 1971.

The funny part about it, at least to me, involved my SAT score and that of a friend of mine. He and I were competitive with each other in everything we did from 7th grade onward. Shooting rabbits that his beagles chased, fishing, spelling tests, you name it, we were in competition. (I would have to say he won about 80% of the time, including one football game in which he caused five fumbles.)

We took the SAT on the same day and after we took the test, he asked how I thought I did and I told him I am pretty sure I aced it, perhaps a perfect score. He snickered and said what makes you so sure. I said did you see the Mexican guy (unlike since the invasion, there were not many back then). He said yeah. I said, well, I cheated. He asked how. I said that guy is supposedly going to be valedictorian of his class, and when I was stuck on a question, I would ask him. I'd say, is the answer to #16 A? And he would say "C" so I would change my answer to C. I said I bet you I asked him 30 or so times and was suprised so many of the questions had "C" for the answer.

He laughs really hard and said "you idiot, he wasn't meaing the letter C, he was saying "si" which means yes in Spanish! (My friend took Spanish, I did not.) He was so pleased that I had changed from the right answer to the wrong answer of C.

Weeks later, when the scores came in, he walked up to me, somewhat triumphantly and asked what I made. I said 1,154 and he said no way. I said yes way, showed him the score and asked what he made. I beat him by 15 or 20 points. He said I thought you changed a lot of your answers to C, and I had to explain the joke to him, lol. He did not find it amusing.
