Finally got around to seeing this movie. Loved it! This movie was 100x funnier than I would have ever expected.

Important update.

I watched this movie yesterday. Some scenes were hilarious, but I ended up turning it off at the exchange of gifts because the main character was too much of a punching bag. I'm all for depth and arcs and overcoming challenges, but it's not fun to watch someone get waterboarded for two hours.

8.5 year thread bump. Impressive.

Agreed about Wiig's character being knocked down too much. It's in line with why I have only rewatched Meet The Parents a couple of times.

That's reasonable to feel that way. However, that's why I really like the movie because eventually life does stop sucking! The scene where Melissa McCarthy beats her up is that snap out of it moment for Kristen Wiig, and that's also funny.
