I haven't watched that episode with the ricin cig since it came out and haven't been on this board until recently. If I can understand the significance of Jesse pulling cigarettes instead of weed out of his pocket, why would I assume Jesse (who in this fictional world is actually emotionally involved with this and currently questioning Walt's motives) wouldn't be able to figure it out immediately, especially when what he pulls out are cigarettes of all things.
Exactly. It's hilarious how people are saying that, though the connection was obvious to "fans" of the show, that it was a "stretch" for the character to reach the same conclusion. And yes, obviously the audience has a broader information base, but Jesse is also extremely paranoid, and this wasn't exactly the first time he's jumped to a conclusion...hell, he's jumped to this EXACT conclusion before and was convinced otherwise. It call it a "stretch" is just a veiled way of saying "I didn't like it." Which is fine, but it was by no means a "stretch."
