Hank is completely done. This episode was the denouement for his character. Everything that you expected to see from Hank from the very first episode until now happened in this episode: The Finale confrontation. Catching Walt red handed. Slapping cuffs on him. Celebrating with Marie. Saying final good byes.

There is no where else to go with Hank. He's toast.

The one thing that remains is the final barrier for Walt to completely Break Bad. He was alright ordering a hit on his metaphorical son, Jessie, but he called off the Nazis when his actual family member, Hank, got in the way. Walt still won't cross the line to kill family members, and that has to change in the next three episodes. I expect that one way or another, he ends up killing Marie.

1)BB isn't the greatest show of all time...and is likely around #5 for me, so not trolling...again, see my previous post about how sloppy the show was early on(but still fantastic).

My god. That was an incredible ending and you guys are dumping on it. These guys are now horrible writers?? WTF??

the writers weren't great at the beginning of the series either. I already said it's tough to end a series like this, so I'm not dumping on them. But it's completely fair to discuss the rather easy/lame routes they took with Huell and with the ending. Why end it there? An army vs. 2 guys with 1 gun a piece...that only results in 2 dead guys...yet we saw like 200 rounds fired with(at this point) no one shot...If Gomey or Hank survive that...it's lame. It's ok to say that. I loved LOST but there was a ****load lame with the final 2 seasons...but I still loved it through the end. It's ok to discuss the flaws with the show.

I feel like some of you take it as personally as someone cussing out your kid when people fairly criticize the flaws with the show.

That was one of the most tense endings of the series, and that's saying a lot.

You guys are way too critical of a show that has given us this much greatness.

And there's a reason they ended it there. We don't know what it is yet, but there is definitely a reason. And I don't think it's as simple as "Hank lives".

How do we know no one got shot? I assume Hank & Gomez are dead and Jesse bolts leaving the Nazis to go searching for him at the start of the next episode. Maybe one of the two live and are taken hostage. The preview for next week had Marie (or was it Skyler's voice) leaving a message for Hank asking when he would be home because he hadn't been heard from.

It's very fair to criticize, but I also think in this instance it's appropriate to look past the specifics of a gun battle (long guns vs pistols, # of rounds, lack of cover, car door protecting Walt from high caliber machine gun, etc.) and just understand the writers and more specifically the directors are playing this for maximum tension, which they achieved. That was as intense as it gets in entertainment and I don't really think that's debatable. To me it's nitpicking to focus in on what's in parenthesis above.

The nazis were firing pistols and semi-auto shotguns, not rifles. While I agree someone should have been wounded, both weapons are quite inaccurate after 20 yards.

I completely agree. I believe the writing has been spot on the entire series and I still trust in the writers. Everything is done for a reason. It also feeds into what a poster mentioned a few pages back when he said the last three episodes are rumored to just be the **** hitting the fan over and over again. Let's let next week play out before we start crucifying anybody and making sweeping statements about how disappointing the ending is going to be.

Possibly not. But there's a reason that instead of having them get gunned down in a scenario that pretty much most agree they should have been gunned down, that they made it to cover behind the car. There's a reason instead of having them take a bullet in what would have been a pretty epic final scene, that they ended the episode there.

To me that means they either they've strung it out so that we can have some final words between Walt and Hank in the first few minutes of next week's episode, which would would be pretty poor pacing -- something this show has never had -- or it means Hank isn't a goner.

While I loved the tension of the final desert sequence, shouldn't it have taken the supremacists much longer to find the location? I though it took Walt and Jesse the better part of an hour or more to travel for each RV cook.

I'll have to rewatch MKF, but the primary "shooter", the younger neo-nazi, definitely had a shotgun.

I'm not a fan of stopping the episode mid-fight, but I'll give the show the benefit of the doubt. But they could have had the trucks pull up, neos hop out, and had a close up of Walt saying "oh no", or something similar.

We will just have to see how the pacing goes. I for one would not mind a final exchange of words between Walt and Hank. How many times have we been disappointed with Heisenberg's dialogue? None that I can remember. It has been epic: "I am the danger," "Say my name," and "Tread lightly" come immediately to mind.

Also, did Todd forget how to shoot a pistol? He had no problem dispatching dirtbike kid. But this week he looked like he'd never held a gun before.

One of the shotguns used was labeled as an AA-12. Here's some footage of its capabilities, and its pretty incredible.

I guess it depends on the load, but in the end, we have to suspend a bit of disbelief. Me personally, I'd equip my neo-nazi army with AR 10s and call it a day.

*******it Hank should have died dramatically while Walt screamed for him in the car. Could have been a massive emotional moment

Now I'm sure Walt will just talk his way out of a jam like he always does.

Neither Hank or Gomey are coming back. I think that it is important to remember that they specifically told Huell not to discuss the case with the other agent, and that he asked how long they would be gone.

I think Hank and Gomez are going to die in the shootout, not sure about Jesse. Walt is pissed at the nazis and won't cook for them. They get pissed and come after Walt, but Walt skips town. He comes back later with the big gun to kill the nazis and he's going to use the ricen on Marie.

I could see how a bunch of rednecks who aren't trained to shoot weapons could miss two guys from this distance. The whole shootout we saw took place in the span of what, 2 seconds, real time?

-Was it established that Hank and Gomez didn't have their DEA badges with them? If not do we assume they didn't have them or do we assume they didn't want to risk drawing down?

-Did Hank go through the proper channels to obtain the evidence so that it would hold up in court? If the nazis don't show up could Walt have outmaneuvered Hank on legal technicalities? But either way the money is gone.

The same rednecks who took out the other crew in 30 seconds without a single injury/fatality?

Todd looks like he's never held a gun before in his life.

Yet he's a crack shot here:

The same rednecks took out Declan's entire crew in about 2 seconds, and organized the killing like 10 inmates in 2 minutes.

I don't think you can judge the pacing until you see next week's episode. Hank could somehow escape alive but I doubt it. I think the neo nazis are going to grab Jesse, Walt and Hank to to figure out what's going on here. I'm guessing they aren't going to ask nicely.
sharkenleo
How long do you want to ignore this user?
My knee-jerk theory is that Jesse is getting out of the car to draw their fire. I think he and Gomie get killed, they take an injured Hank hostage to get Walt to cook.
