why didn't walt bury the money in 2 different spots? so if one got found there was still the other fall back money?

My guess is that they will find the bodies based on cell phone records. If they can triangulate Hank's final call to Marie, it won't take too long considering the piles of spent ammo cartridges left at the scene.

I pulled for Jesse until he ratted. I liked Hank up until he was a dick to Marie while he was injured. I hated Mike. Walt annoys me. Skyler annoys me.

I think Holly and Jr. I'd like for them to kill everyone else and live happily ever after.

Get out of my head. I dont care if Jesse dies and I dont know why everyone else does either. His character soured for me awhile ago. I still want Walt to make it out on top somehow...even if he ends up alone.

Anyone think that Todd and Jesse die and perhaps Walt too, so there is no meth left for Lydia? What if the czech mafia offs her for having no more product for them?

The point of it is to evoke strong emotions

Precisely, but it's not all-encompassing. Otherwise pretty much every piece of entertainment would fall under that category. Not just TV dramas, but all forms of entertainment. Come on dude.

Shock value is when you go for cheap shocks with over-the-top violence, in order to disguise a lack of solid writing where the drama isn't enough to stir the wanted emotions in the viewers.

Michael Corleone ordering the death of his brother was enough of a shock, we didn't need to see the act itself. Just like we didn't need to see Hank's death, or Gomey's, or the actual poisoning of Brock, etc.

Your argument that Breaking Bad is built on a foundation of shock value is completely unfounded. You are confusing "shocking moments" with "shock value", of which Breaking Bad has plenty, but as a whole the show is more a slow-burn than an orgy of shocks and thrills. That's what makes it so great.

If they owned the house out right the lot has value and they can sell it. The buyer can fix it up and flip it. If they had a mortgage the bank would not let it go to crap. Also, there was police tape on the door.

Maybe they thought he did cook meth in there and they boarded it off because of the potential hazard in the walls and what not.

At this point a Martian could come out of the sky and it would not surprise me. I am ready for anything.

For some reason, the shot of the house boarded up and spray painted strikes me that this scene is shot well into the future (beyond 1 or 2 years). Makes me wonder if Walt fakes his death from cancer to only come back year's later completely unexpected. It's a stretch, I know.

I've been avoiding this whole shock value argument, but since its not going away, gotta say, I agree with shark.

Regarding Jesse vs Walt - it's over and Jesse won, right? Jesse's goal coming back was to "stop letting him get away with it". And with Hanks death and the ensuing fallout Walt's lies have been fully exposed.

All Walt can do now is go after Brock, which surely he doesn't feel the need to do. Jesse won. Being sold into slavery sucks, but in the end he got Walt so he'll take it. What else does he have to do?

The thing is, I don't think it is built on shocks, my opinion is that it is built on strong characters. I am only stating that the show is far from subtle, and yes, I think they do rely on shock value which I happen to not take issue with. The line between shocking moments and shock value are not so black and white, there is a spectrum and my definition obviously falls on a different portion than your own. And I don't agree that shock value is used to make up for poor writing, check out Game of Thrones to see how it is expertly used.

Angler, I don't think it is a stretch at all considering his neighbor's reaction when he says "Hi Sue" or whatever her name is, I don't recall.

Phi, come over next Sunday evening.

Nah, BB writers don't pull tricks like that. That is on his 52nd birthday, so 6 to 8 months away, tops.

Internet fan, I don't think at this time we can tell who has won. If I had to call it right now, Walt has. He still has his life, his money, and his family is alive, though not with him. He lost Skyler long ago. Jesse did win in the sense that the past 3 episodes allowed for Jr to know what is going on. Jesse has nothing. He doesn't even have his life, he's a slave.

Cru,

That's exactly what I was thinking when she dropped the bag. It was like she was seeing a ghost and completely unexpecting it.

I think it's gonna be more because of Walt's story becoming a major, national news story, and his "disappearance" will be well-documented, but not necessarily a faked death.

Shark,

Does it show that it is his birthday when he is in the diner in MA? I can't remember.

And if you think back to season 1, I think the story the local news ran on Walt Jr's donations website will probably be a part of that story.

Well we will find out in 6 days and 4 hours. The show before this own had me thinking this thing would go out with a whimper. Last night convinces me none of us will be disappointed. Maybe wrong, but not disappointed.

No, not explicitly, he just does the bacon 52 thing. I suppose it's possible that was just the arbitrary birth date on his fake ID, but I think it'd be too much of a fake-out.

Angler:

At the Denny's he was making the number 52 on his pancakes. It is tradition for Skylar to do that for Walt. On his 51st when she hated his guts and Jr. had to remind her to do it. Since that time they have reconciled and become a family. This thing is gonig down in a short time frame. Walt goes into hiding for a period but only enough time for his hair to grow back.

When Walt mentinoed $80 million in money they knew it was buried out there. Like he said, you don't normally give directions that specific. You tell people "go down this road until you hit a light and then turn right until the next gas station and then turn left". As soon as Walt mentioned money they knew to start digging in that exact spot.

They figured it out when Walt told them it was there! Some detectives they are. "Hey guys, I have $80MM buried over there." "So that's what these coordinates are for. Man, I bet there's money over there. I WAS RIGHT!"

Werd to your mother. Guy lived and died by the G Code. My favorite character in the show. The only one to have any ounce of real street knowledge and common sense.

Not true. He can still have faked his death. The neighbor's reaction was like she had seen a ghost, not like she just saw someone she thought was on America's Most Wanted.

Hank didn't have street smarts and common sense? For a guy with such obvious traits it is a shame a spaz like Walt could kill him. Walt can cook some meth, blow up people, poison them, etc. But in a gun fight he is worthless. And he straight up took Mike out.

Why would Saul fake Walt's death? That would be pretty hard without a body. It takes a long time to declare someone dead without a body and even more effort. Saul would not want to go through that. Now to establish another identity is another matter. That surpisingly for a grown man is pretty easy. You aren't ever going to hold a meaningful high profile job but you can easily blend in. Social security numbers are easy to get.

With $11MM in cash and terminal lung cancer I doubt holding a meaningful high profile job is a concern for Walt.

Again that was not my point. What was my point was establishing a new identity is easy while having yourself declared dead is not. There has to be a body or some remains or something. You have to be missing for a long time in order to be pronounced dead. And with the law after Walt the last thing they would want is the case closed without absolute proof the guy is dead. It would not be Saul prancing in saying "well, he has been gone a few months and nobody has heard from him...he is dead so you can stop looking". And faking your death is hard. Dental records would pretty much clear that up.

I'm going to go ahead and check out of this thread now until the series finale has aired.

With it being so close, there will no doubt be people on the internet with spoilers looking to ruin it. I hope they don't show up on this thread, but I don't even want to read some blatant spoiler masterfully disguised in a "prediction" or anything. I just want to enjoy the final 2 in peace and not have it ruined.

Been a fun ride, guys. Next 2 weeks are going to be awesome!
