Um, bike boy is dead. After Walt(Hank to you there GatorinAustin) got the sitdown with Gus, Jeese, and the two cholo dealers, and declared no more kids, they offed him.

W.W. not standing for Walt Whitman

Anyone else notice in last week's episode when Walt was moving back in, he put a few books on the nightstand. One of them was Leaves of Grass from Walt Whitman. Walt stopped, looked at it for a second, chuckled, then put it on the shelf.

I could see him trying to kill off Skyler and accidentally poisoning Jr.

i've been thinking this for a while now. he can justify killing skyler with saying its to "keep his kids/family together". this of course could turn into her finally turning him in/letting hank in on everything.

America's destiny is not of our own choosing. We did not seek nor did we provoke an assault on our freedom and our way of life. We did not expect nor did we invite a confrontation with evil. Yet the true measure of a people's strength is how they rise to master that moment when it does arrive.

I think he told hank about this when he asked about "W.W."

Mike definitely needs to kill Lydia. I found it strange that she forced Jesse to say Mike's 1st and last names out loud, as if she was recording everything.

I think she's just compiling evidence, either to turn over to the DEA when she feels she has enough or to use as leverage against Mike when he tries to kill her.

They keep showing Skylar smoking. My guess is that Walt poisons her cigarettes just as Walt Jr decided to start experimenting with smoking, killin Walt Jr by mistake.

Wasn't the barrel scene supposed to take place somewhere in Texas? If so, where?

Just curious....

A possibility, but the Ricin was just stored in the cig, it needs to be digested, right?

Also, how much of them showing the cig was to show her trying to give him cancer?

Nice touch with the "Area 51" mug as the ashtray on his 51st bday.

I would make a small bet that this plays a role in Hank figuring out who Walt is. Seeing the Walt Whitman book will make it click for Hank when he thinks about how Johnny on the Spot his Walter White the chemist was to come up with the name Walt Whitman for the notes in the chemists book.

Between that decision and the cars, Walt is not doing things the way Gus did. He's making a lot of mistakes and his hubris won't let him recognize that.

I don't think he's making mistakes so much as just being brazen. I don't think its enough for walt to be in charge and running the show. Walt will want everyone, including hank, especially hank, to know that he is responsible. Walt was a beaten timid man in the beginning. Hank has always called him an egghead and made fun of him for being boring. Walt is going to enjoy it when he can shove it in hank's face that he is heisenberg.

To me, it seemed like this episode set up Walt viewing Jesse as his true family as opposed to Skylar. Jesse got him a gift and thought about him on his birthday while Skylar jumped in the pool as a statement. This is all about Walt's internal rationalization that Jesse is his true family. It opens him up to be able to kill Skylar in order to protect Jesse while not being wholly out of character.

I am also probably one of the few people who take Walt's point of view despite his evil ways. I have a hard time breaking away from the lead character of a series. While it would make me seem like a bad person, I can appreciate watching people do things well. Walt acts as a megalomaniacle mastermind well. He does a good job countering Skylar, he does a good job manipulating Jesse, he does a good job setting up his business. While it is all horrible, he is good at using his intellect for his personal gain.

One of the awards on Lydia's desk was from some board in Houston, so safe assumption there. Plus I could see Houston being about a 14 hour drive from ABQ

I found it hard to sympathize with him until he pointed out that Skylar had threatened to take his kids away from him. He's deluded himself enough to think he's doing this for family. But I know I would do anything I could against someone threatening my kids.

Lydia's Madrigal office/warehouse was definitely supposed to be in Houston, which makes sense with Houston being a petrochemical hub. There was the plaque in her office that was in the shape of Texas and said Houston on it. Also the computer in the warehouse office where she was trying to figure out the breakers had a Texas flag for a screensaver. With her office being all window you could tell it was not filmed in Houston. It looked like they filmed it right there in ABQ, definitely southwestern landscape. Small oversight (I would have just closed the blinds for that scene) that only people from Texas would notice most likely.

It isn't hard. She has become completely unlikable this season to me. I used to think she was okay and kind of wanted to see her enjoy the success but honestly her attitude needs to change. She knows its all going to come crashing down, I assume Walt figures it can't last too long either. At least Walt is of the mentality to enjoy it while he can and allow Jr. too as well. Skylar is just suffering for the sake of suffering, its like she is punishing herself for what may happen in the future.

I never waivered in supporting Walt until the very end of season 4. Even now, I don't wish bad things on him. I just watch him with disappointment.

Poisoning Brock is tough to justify, easily the worst thing he's ever done. Now that Walt is in charge, he's way too money-focused. There are things on the business side (like Lydia) that have to be dealt with. Mike is the only one with any experience on that front, and he's keeping Mike on too short a leash. And Walt's just gotten really sloppy in a lot of ways. The cars are a good example of that. He thinks he's invincible, and there are no more threats. It reminds me of the line in Carlito's Way, "If you can't see the angles no more, you're dead."

the blatant showcase of the SRT cars followed by the SRT commercial made me chuckle, but as is to be expected with sponsors i guess.

same with the scarface & mobster week on AMC coincidentally.

The power becomes an addiction and you don't want to give it up no matter how financially secure you become. Like the end of Goodfellas:

"Today everything is different. There's no action. I have to wait around like everyone else. I'm an average nobody."

Agree. Walt's lifestyle is a spitting image of Scarface right before he died.

I think my wife would help me try to be successful at it as best she could, because she would know if I failed she would fail as well. She wants Walt to fail and be punished for the bad things he has done, what she doesn't get is that if he fails Jr is gonna be crushed.

I see this show ending very similar to the Shield.

In many ways, I've always been more of a Skylar supporter than a Walt supporter. What if you, out of nowhere, learned that your spouse got diagnosed with a terminal disease, started smoking weed, dissappeared for days before walking into a grocery store 100s of miles away completely nude, lied to you about receiving charity from a friend for cancer treatments, lied to you about leaving for a weekend to visit his mother because he has a terminal disease and wanted to spend time with her one last time before dying, started cooking crystal meth, incited 2 crazy murderers to nearly kill your brother-in-law, caused a team of trained hit men to come kill you and your entire family, murdered people in the 1st degree, convinced you to help manipulate an innocent businessman into selling his business to you under false pretenses so that you can actively help your spouse launder drug money, caused you to lie to your entire family about everything, and is essentially holding you hostage in your own home. And that's merely the stuff she knows about.

Wouldn't you be a little *****y, too?

Having said all of this, she's never been a "likeable" character from the beginning. She was always a controling little ***** who we all wanted to hate, but she doesn't deserve the life she's stuck with now.

I don't think she was recording. If she was recording she would have asked Jesse's first and last name, not turned off cameras (a new guy would have never known if they were on or off), and left off the tracking device (assuming she really did plant it). I really think she was being dumb and paranoid, as if some undercover cop isn't going to do his research and know Mike's last name.
