As opposed to selling a product that kills people and puts his family in danger. Yeah.

I've seen this stated multiple times, but the offer of money doesn't come before Walt starts down the path with Jesse. I'm not sure how long after it happens, but it was not before.

I recently rewatched episode 1 just for fun and remembered people talking about he just should have taken the help.

It was interesting to see how Walt started out (being pushed around by high school kids, timid holding a gun, only being sure about science).

Now I'm using my memory, but I also believe Walt is interested in setting up his family if he were to die. Even if the offer for treatment money came before the cooking, that would not make sure his wife and kids are set up.

Yeah,
I'm pretty sure Walt already started down the Meth Production path before anyone even knew he had cancer. Wasn't he hiding it from everyone?

Walt had MANY opportunities to bow out of the meth trade, and always chose to stay in, either for the money, ego or whatever.

if he cared about his family, he'd take skylar's fear very seriously and find a way out. but of course not, he's too excited to be scarface now.

That NPR (Fresh Air) interview with "Hank" was great. Give it a listen.

It's the only thing he does that is exceptional. He got all threatened when gus brought in that other chemist. He got all uppity when hank talked about how brilliant the other chemist's notebook was. That's one of the main reasons other than money that he'll continue to do it til the day he dies.

I liked walts line to skylar about how the guy who gave him the watch wanted to kill him not too long ago. To me that line represents how i have felt about many of the shows characters. I know i went from liking gus to hating him to thinking he wasnt so bad again. Same for Jesse. A couple of seasons ago he annoyed me and i thought walt should get rid of him. Now he is one of my favorites. And i see that walt has taken that same pattern for many of you. The writing and story line for this show has been absolutely fantastic!

Walt had already killed a man by the time he was offered money for his treatment. Once you hit that step, I am not sure it's worth it to turn back.

When has Skylar ever done something positive for Walt or in the show? Despite all the negative things Walt has done, he has done a couple of redeeming things. I just can't remember Skylar doing anything redeeming.

You're right. Walt turned down the treatment money because he wasn't at all interested in treatment. He started cooking meth to get $737,000 for the family, what he calculated they needed once he was gone.

Now, once he started making money with meth, he relented and got the treatement. But he never directly chose cooking meth to fund his treatment in lieu of the charity offerings.

RIP, Crazy 8.

Gosh guys...think back to that time and how Walt and Jessie were torn up about who would kill C8. He wouldn't last 2 seconds with today's Walt. Today we are discussing whether or not Walt is going to kill his wife.

how about taking care of the family that walt claims to love and care about so much while walt was off cooking meth or killing crazy drug dealers?

Convinced Walt to get treatment

Helped him launder money so he and kids could stay together

Lies constantly and has never divulged what he does, to save the family

Fair, but he seems to still have a good relationship with Walt Jr, and the baby is a baby. When he is around, he gives his attention to the children, so no worse than a guy with a busy job. She spends a lot more time with the baby which is respectable, except for blowing second-hand smoke in the baby's face. When the children were in trouble, he sucked up his ego and risked his business to make sure they were protected by the DEA.

They seem to share time on making meals and cleaning. He buys them cool things like water heaters and cars. She does plenty to nag, second guess, and ride Walt's ace while he sometimes gets a little rapey.

He has definitely done much worse things outside his family unit, but inside it I don't really see how they've been much different. For the first 25 (or however long) years of their marriage she controlled him, over the past year or so, he controls her.

When you stick someone who actually has redeeming qualities like Mike or Hank or Jesse, it is very easy to root for them as opposed to Walt. It's much harder for me to pull for Skylar in the situation.

I'm not sure convincing Walt to get treatment was necessarily a redeeming thing. She did it mainly for selfish reasons in spite of Walt having no interest in doing so. And with hindsight, them and the world would probably be better off with him dead via cancer.

The way this show hits on the decline/change in a person is so good.

Is it over simplifying things if I'm thinking that Walt will kill Hank or Jesse to Break Bad? It seems too obvious.

yes, bc Walt has already broken bad. dude is an egomanical psycho now, who is very calculated and knows how to manipulate people to get what he wants. wouldn't be surprised to see him kill one of the two, but not anytime soon.

7nine I'm glad you reposted that picture. Makes me wonder what the significance of that setting is...other than looking bada**.

So Walt is there by himself with a pile of cash and meth...and a machine gun.

But, there is also cash scattered on the ground. Is that just for effect, or does it mean there was some chaotic event that just finished? Some stacks of cash are piled on top of the larger bundles. At one point, were they part of a larger bundle and got blown up? A man of Walt's meticulous nature wouldn't just have that stuff scattered around if he could help it.

Looks to be at least 10MM in cash. That's a lot more than Walt's had at any point before.Assuming each small stack is 100 100dollar bills, for 10k. Each plastic wrapped bundle is 8 of those on the face, and let's assume 10 stacks deep...800k per large bundle. I think I see 12 of those....9.6MM. So I think it's safe to assume that the meth business does very well in the future.

Is Walt waiting on someone? What's he looking at? If he were expecting a showdown, he'd have the gun readily available.

He's wearing the cooking suit...did he just finish cooking, or need to change into something not blood soaked...or is it just to look bada** for the promotional poster?

His head is kind of shiny, looks like he's been sweating. Which makes me think he may have just finished something and not just sitting back and chilling out.

He doesn't look to have his wedding ring on, which was made clear in the diner scene from the opener. So this image is from a future point in time.

The location isn't one that we've seen before. Granted it is a nice setting, especially with the windows in the back, looks like a cathedral. Is it his new cook site/refuge/last stand?

Is this photo AMC and team giving us a little peek into the future, or just a promotional tool and nothing more? I wouldn't be surprised if this is one of the last scenes in the series.
The Big12Ag
How long do you want to ignore this user?
May be over thinking the promotional poster there. I doubt he would carry and stack all his meth and cash into the middle of an empty warehouse.

Of course, if this is the final scene and he lures everyone in the series into the warehouse and blows it up, then you'll have the last laugh.

I don't think the poster is a scene from the show. I think it's just including a summary of the season.
