I think Hank is going to string this along and make Walt's life hell. Walt has embarrassed and made Hank look a fool on multiple occasions, and I wouldn't be surprised if the beginning of the last 8 is a montage connecting it altogether for Hank.

The rest of the discussion that night when they discussed Gayle. The made up accident involving Marie. The times Walt would ask how "that case" was going and Hank would give him updates. The talks in Hank's office when he planted and took back the wires. The rehab money coming from playing poker, which was actually from the biggest case he's ever worked.

I can't wait to see where Gilligan takes us. It may be the greatest 8 episode finale to a series ever.

Even though that episode was pretty straight-forward, it was pretty badass. Great ending with Hank finding it all out.

I agree with others about the last season being probably the most epic ending to a series ever. Gilligan has a ton of material to work with now.

Also, does anyone know if the last season has been filmed already? I wasn't sure if they did them all at once or not.

Gilligan played us well. This whole season, has been building to something catastrophic- Skylar, or Walt Jr, or Jesse, or someone was going to be a casualty ( I don't think just Mike was what we were expecting). It ended so much more calmly than that, yet just as satisfying- didn't feel anticlimactic or anything..

Interesting point:

Hank's medical bills were paid from the meth business. It would make him indirectly/unknowingly an accessory.

You'd like to think Hank would be chomping at the bits to get Heisenberg, but how does the tell everyone at the DEA (and cope with the ego blow) that his greatest case was right under his nose the whole time.

Somewhat off topic, what was the significance of hank and the minerals while he was laid up?

So Hank finding out Walt is Hiesenberg isn't big enough for you?

This was supposed to be one season that AMC turned to two correct?

Don't think the show revealed it, but I always thought he was looking for the mineral that made Walt's Meth blue.

I'm at work and still thinking of last night episode.

This is just my two cents:

The significance of the fly at the beginning the last episode was an ode to Walt's attention to detail, but lack of attention at the same time. The previous episode with the fly showed his attention to detail in trying to kill the damn thing throughout the whole episode.

Furthermore, throughout the show, Walt always took care of the little things (cleaning of meth supplies, loose ends as seen in the killing of the 10 inmates, etc.); that's how Walt got this far in the game. When something needed to get done, Walt saw it through to the end.

For whatever reason, as the show went on, particularly in season 5, Walt failed to care of the little things, perhaps due to his ego. With regards to the fly, he saw the fly buzzing around, noticed its presence, but failed to do anything about it.

The same goes with the book. He saw it everyday, but failed to get rid of it. This small detail will end of being his downfall.

Not what I said at all. It's not as "big" as Walt killing Skylar or something, which is what it seemed we were building toward. Nor was it particularly surprising, as we essentially knew Hank was going to find him out and the time for that to happen is running out. All that combines to what would have been a disappointment or anticlimactic in another show, but that finale was totally satisfying here.

I think my favorite "little detail" from last night was Jesse hiding his bong when Walt came over. They aren't working together. Heck, they aren't even friends. But Jesse still doesn't want to displease Walt.

Taint98 and myself had this nailed on page 45...

quote:
Very interesting Walt Whitman find there. That may also implicate the Hank reveal as the "WW" in Gayle's notebook was a direct question to Walter that he responded to as "probably Walt Whitman".

But wow, the words in that poem combined with the whole "WW" prior setup = buckle up.

He wsn't hiding his bong, he was getting his gun. He thought Walt was there to kill him.

He got his gun before he let Walt in to his house. He moved his bong in front of Walt.

He went to grab his gun after he peeked out the window and left the screen. He was def hiding his bong from Walt.

I tried to count but I missed the lawyer getting it - which kill was he?

I had the exact same excited tense feeling during the pool scene as I did in the Sopranos finale at the diner. Was something going to happen to Walt,jr or the baby? Was someone going to show up at the house? Was Hank going to discover a cell phone or money or ricin? So good!

I saw on CNBC, I think it was last week but I forgot to post about it, that a candy maker is putting out "Breaking Bad Blue Meth Candy". They are the same company that makes the prop blue stuff for the show. It's a crazy world we live in now.

Amazing to see how this series has come/still is coming full circle. Makes me think that episode 1 could end up being a microcosm for the entire series. Walt starting out as a meek chemistry teacher and ending up as a wildly desperate man standing in his underwear pointing a gun down the road towards what he thought was oncoming police.

Except maybe this time he'll have an M60.

Also, I don't want to read through 50+ pages to find out, but have the Breaking Bad/Star Wars parallels been discussed?

Well, now that Hank knows Walt is Heisenberg, it's not simply a given that he goes after him.

First and foremost, the book from Gale is circumstantial and "proves" nothing, and with all the witnesses dead, Hank has nothing at the moment to implicate Walt.

More importantly, however, Hank knows very well that Walt getting busted could mean the end of his career, for the same reason his predecessor lost his job after Fring's exposure. And Hank's situation is a lot worse with respect to his relationship with Walt. Walt's drug money paid for his physical rehab, for crying out loud.

So Hank has a huge, huge dilemma. Will he live with the torture of knowing who Walt is, yet feel unable to do anything about it? Or he will he sacrifice his career and damage the lives of his children by bringing Walt down.

If Hank finds out Walt's cancer is back, that could likely further motivate Hank to let it go.

How about walt being so callous towards money now that he just leaves 5 million on jesses front porch? Before, $600k was everything, shrinkwrapped in clothes, etc.

Well other than some pretty hilarious Star Wars/Breaking Bad photoshops (I'll have to find them and post some), some friends I talk about the show with always seem to be pushing:

Jesse = Luke

Mike = Obi Wan

Walt = Vader

Walter being Vader is the only one the makes sense. The other 2 have similarities, but are a big stretch.
