"the problem with the orange theory is that ted beneke is not dead."
Neither is Walt.
"Anyone think that Lydia might be the one to kill Skylar?"
I thought about that too. Lydia is a basket case & barely has her sht together, but she'll hire a hit man at the drop of a hat. That was really ballsy of Skyler to go all Heisenbergette on a known conspirator with drug lords. I could totally see Lydia reacting in a less-than-friendly manner.
"What do you think Saul is going to be doing during all of this?"
Saul survives. He's a cockroach. Surviving is what he does. Plus, he's needed for the spinoff. But he's not a killer. He'll run & hide like he did last time.
"Badger's star trek episode is a foreshadow of how it will end."
I don't know if you meant this to be funny or not, but I suspect that the Star Trek pie eating contest will prove to the perfect analogy for this season when it's all over. Or maybe it's an analogy for the entire series. Blue-berry pie = Walt's blue meth. But who are Kirk, Spock, Chechov, Scotty, and Ohura?
"Wonder if Marie's jabbering in the car about Europe is relevant?"
Good question. I'm sure it'll definitely come up again. Perhaps a European exit strategy is the plan? But I don't see it actually unfolding that way.
"Not sure if discussed, but read on another thread that Walt has taken on some of the little habits of the people he's offed"
That's very interesting, and it's hidden little secrets like this that make this show so great, even after several viewings. Walt's comments to Mike & Victor just as they realized Jesse was about to kill Gale reminded me a lot of Jane's comments to Walt as she was demanding Jesse's money.
Gilligan reminded us on Talking Bad of Walt's definition of chemistry from the Pilot episode and how it defines the series as a whole. He defined it as "the study of matter," "the study of change," and "growth, then decay, then transformation." Chemistry is also atoms converging and infusing as molecules. That's a perfect analogy for the theory of Walt taking on the behaviors of his victims perfectly.
