At there damn near everyday

Were yall there when "Howdy, Outbound" cashier worked there. Everyday… walk up and she would just say "Howdy, Outbound?"… always a yep. I lived on the whataburger outbound and a rolling rock beer back in the dorm (Moses hall! RAB MMFOCFILOFU!)

She ran for student body president with her whole platform being that she was the Howdy Outbound girl.

I had forgotten about that. But yup. I'll end the derail. Sorry

That's funny. I thought y'all were talking about an older Asian lady who worked as a cashier in the commons. She would also say "Aggie buck, meal credit!?" in a boisterous manner.

The '97 re-release with the special edition footage made $138m domestic but just $22 m international since they barely released it anywhere. I imagine this will be a worldwide big-time re-release. They'll have it out for a full month before Gosling's Starfighter comes out on May 28th.

I've probably asked before but having Star Wars in IMAX doesn't' really mean anything, right? It wasn't filmed in IMAX so you can't retroactively make it IMAX. They would just stretch it across a bigger screen?

I think that's the case, but I'll let any of the TA experts chime in. I would guess this is akin to the thankfully dead trend from a few years ago of releasing a 3D version of movies that were not filmed with 3D tech.

That was the worst movie development that ever happened.

I watched episode 1 of Maul - Shadow Lord. It was very engaging, I am looking forward to this season.

Any backstory/prior series needed for Maul, other than knowing he came back at some point?

I'm no Star Wars or Maul expert, but I believe the very very short version is that he was taken in by Mother Talzin, made his way up the food chain to the leadership of a criminal gang/enterprise, and is now at odds with Darth Sidious.

If you have 9 minutes, IGN has a great recap

It's set pretty soon after Order 66, but well before he shows back up in Rebels

I don't feel this season has pre-requisites.

I am pretty ignorant on how he has returned. I know he appeared in The Clone Wars series, but I haven't seen any of that.

This actually takes place prior to his appearances in Clone Wars, right?

I believe this is after order 66 but about 15 years before A New Hope

Y'all are confusing me so I looked it up:

Quote:

Star Wars: Maul Shadow Lord is set roughly one year after the events of Revenge of the Sith, placing it in the early years of the Galactic Empire's reign Screen Rant+1. This period is often called the "early dark times," just after Order 66 and the fall of the Jedi Order. The show follows Darth Maul as he rebuilds his criminal syndicate and searches for a new apprentice on the planet Janix FandomWire.

edit: when I said prior to his appearances in Clone Wars I actually meant Rebels which was right before A New Hope, so I confused myself and you.

edit 2: actually, I do think I meant Clone Wars. I'm thinking about the final story arc with he and Ashoka which was so bad ass. I have no idea what I'm talking about now. I'm sick and feel bad.

It is hard to keep track. Star Wars can't even complete cartoons in order.

Imperial March as a Bach Fugue...It really strikes me as embodying all of Anakin/Vader in one piece. With the melancholy undertones it really hits a nerve for me.

The new Maul show is good for anyone who enjoys classic Star Wars. Compared to Clone Wars and Rebels, Maul is aimed less* toward young children. Any kids who watched the entirety of Clone Wars or Rebels will be fine to watch Maul, but it doesn't have much extra fluff or comedic relief comparably. There is fighting and killing and an overall dark tone to the show compared to the previous animated series, but it is very well done. Music, visuals, storytelling, character development, fights, etc. are all solid.

Episodes 1~4 have been released now.

In before someone posts any number of videos from randos telling us how bad the prequels are and how awful George Lucas is for telling us those stories. Or before someone on TA says what prequels?

I, for one, actually never had an issue with the politics of the prequels and that whole empire storyline. It was great and fleshed out the Star Wars universe more. It added nice foundation for the original trilogy.

I think it's a simple scapegoat for people who dislike the prequels. And don't get me wrong, there is poor dialog and stale acting at parts with how much green screening was included. But that should not be confounding to the actual story itself.

I still want a Star Wars series focused on the politics of the old republic like West Wing.

Yeah, I never had an issue with the plot lines of the prequels. Just the horrible dialogue, the stilted deliveries of it, and jar jar f****** binks.

Every once in a while I'll watch the beginning of TPM and be thinking "this movie is phenomenal ..." and then Jar Jar rolls up. Those first 10 minutes of Obi-Wan/Qui-On and shady Sidious are really fun.

I give you Jar Jar Binks.

Unless one believes in the Sith Jar Jar conspiracy.
