Yeah, I never had an issue with the plot lines of the prequels. Just the horrible dialogue, the stilted deliveries of it, and jar jar f****** binks.

Every once in a while I'll watch the beginning of TPM and be thinking "this movie is phenomenal ..." and then Jar Jar rolls up. Those first 10 minutes of Obi-Wan/Qui-On and shady Sidious are really fun.

Agreed. There are some really great moments in that prequel that show so much potential.

Now that was a pretty great trailer. I wasn't sure how I felt before about this movie but I am actually excited now

Yeah, that one looks better. Still, I cannot ever recall being this unenthused about a freaking Star Wars movie, even the sequels and Solo. I'd even forgotten this was even coming out. But, there is 0% chance that I won't see this on opening day.

Legitimately baffles me that after 7 years without a Star Wars movie, THIS was the one they decided to come out of the gate with. A glorified, extended episode of tv.

It should have been the big climax of the entire Mando/Ahsoka/Thrawn arc, with Luke coming in to kick some ass. The Avengers style event that they were building toward.

Or, Starfighter, which at least has an incredibly hot A-lister attached that will draw in crowds on his name and reputation alone.

This was the worst choice they could've possibly made. I'm probably in the top 5% of Star Wars fandom and I can barely get it up for this movie. Hell, I almost keep forgetting it's even coming out.

This will struggle to break $500M.

Truly baffling decision by KK/Lucasfilm.

Likely because it's the only "for sure" thing they've put out in years so they made the safest bet they could.

I've been reading projections….

This thing currently is projected to have a worse opening weekend than Solo….and that's not adjusting for inflation….think it's projecting currently around 71 million…..

This thing reportedly has a budget anywhere from 130-160 million…so let's be REALLY conservative here and say it's a 150 million budget and 100 million marketing budget (and it's likely higher)…that means worldwide this thing has to do a minimum of 500 million to break even and I do not see that happening at all….

I don't mind beating this drum over and over.

Disney trashed this franchise so badly by inventing dogshxt characters and putting them into inane and trivial storylines no one asked for.

Speaking as a SW fan who's watched all of their other properties (I even watched all of The Acolyte much like you'd watch a car crash) and lost interest in The Mandalorian after Season 2, this last trailer does nothing to draw me in. Probably won't even watch it on streaming unless it somehow gets universal praise from audiences.

We get it...Grogu is cute, so you throw in a bunch of throwaway cutesy things for him to say or do. But they've gone to that well too many times already. Pascal throws out some cliche lines in his usual unenthusiastic Din Djarin voice. Then you have a 76-year old Sigourney Weaver as an X-Wing pilot and leader in the New Republic military? No wonder the First Order was able to rise so quickly, lol. But I'm not surprised, Filoni does love his strong, empowered female heroes.

I'll watch this on streaming if/when I reactivate my Disney+ sub, but out of curiously more than anything. I've abandoned this story arc for the most part never having finished Boba Fett (terrible) and never attempted Mandy S3 because it was apparently bad as well. Not sure what else is tied into this at this point.

Will definitely watch Starfighter because I like Ryan Gosling. I think that is completely outside of the ongoing Skywalker arc, right?

No one is saying that you can't look forward to it, go see it, and enjoy it. We're simply discussing and expressing opinions and you're certainly entitled to yours. If you've been enjoying the show then I hope the movie lives up to your expectations. As he's one of this board's biggest SW fans, I'm not surprised Cinco is going to see it opening day and I hope he enjoys it as well.

Thanks!

This is something that goes back to May 25, 1983 for me, the day that Return of the Jedi came out. I was finishing my sophomore year in high school with finals that week. My parents told me I could go on opening night if I did well on my biology final; otherwise I'd have to wait until the weekend. Biology wasn't much of an issue for me, I aced the final, then got to go opening night, which was a Wednesday.

I have seen every Star Wars movie since that night on opening day/night since. You know what Aggies say about doing something at least twice becoming tradition, so yeah, not messing with that.

As for enjoying it, I'm sure that I will. I've enjoyed every Star Wars movie to some extent upon leaving the theater. But as for this particular movie, I'm just not that enthused. And given it is a Disney Star Wars, who does not have a great track record in a galaxy far, far away, that contributes to the overall expectation here as well.

Alright, I saw some clips somewhere last night while scrolling and those clips looked cool. Will see what the consensus is from this group after some of y'all see it. i won't' have time to see it in theater anyway, but I might watch it soon upon streaming if it's good.

I have been a fan since the 90s when the prequel came out (I am a 90s baby, so that was what I was exposed to), but The Mandalorian just sparked something in me. Idk what it was, but yeah. I'll be at 3 theaters opening weekend taking photos with guests, and will be seeing it probably 2-3 times.

Also, I love Grogu.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you also do some good SW cosplay, right? I assume that's what you mean when you say you'll be at theaters taking pics with guests (duh, lol). Hey, if this movie is right up your alley because SW is your jam, go for it and have fun! I assume you'll be posting pics here of your costume?

For me, I'm 50 yrs old and grew up watching the OT soooo many times when they popped up on TV, so I'm just disappointed by how much Disney has squandered the potential. Plus, I don't understand how they can have great animated shows like Rebels and Maul but then put out live-action tripe like they have.

I'll be there in the theater opening weekend, like every Star Wars movie going back to 1977 when my mom took me to my first movie theater experience to see the original as a four year old.

I'm a nerd when it comes to Star Wars. My dad isn't big on sci-fi so I don't think he went with us, but Mom always made it a point to take me as a kid when they were released, so it became our tradition. When I got older and the prequels came out I had already moved to Texas but we found a way to make it work by visiting during the theater runs. My folks moved to Texas right before TFA so it was easy after that. I lost Mom this past summer, so this one is going to be tough.

LOL and as I type all this, I'm picturing Mom as a force ghost appearing in the seat next to me watching this movie. She would have laughed at that.

Been there. Always went with my dad to the Star Wars movies going back to the re-releases of the originals (think those were first before the prequels but can't remember).

Last one we saw together was tRoS….my fondest memory was all the conversations we had after watching Rogue One together in the parking lot about how epic that movie was especially the ending.

Realizing now this'll be the same scenario as you. But it'll still be good

I'm leaning towards seeing this one in theaters, haven't missed one yet. I've enjoyed the series a lot and this looks like it should be a fun big screen experience, even if it's not the best thing ever SW films are usually at least a good time.

Nope, my Mando all 3 days! This is what the movie is centered on, so want to have representation. Only about 50 Mandalorian characters approved across DFW.
