If you've been on the fence about checking out Maul: Shadow Lord on Disney+, get your ass in front of the TV.

Episodes 9 and 10 debuted today to end Season 1 and took the series from hall of very good to hall of fame Star Wars animation. Last 1-1/2 episodes are a straight-up horror movie because of one word.

While TPM had Jar Jar Binks, ROTJ had Ewoks. Seems a bit of a wash.

At the end of episode 9, my jaw dropped. Great animation and fight sequences.

Is it just me or does the footage in the first few minutes just look… weird? Or cheaply shot?

On this May 4. I have come to realize the majority of my favorite things in Star Wars are from the old-EU. I was the right age for the old-EU and really enjoyed the novels/comics/games, etc.

I think my biggest issue with Star Wars is trying to reconcile the loss of the old-EU and accepting all of the new Disney EU. I know the EU was never set in stone and on some levels I get why it needed to change. It just feels like it could have been handled better.

It is easier to enjoy Star Wars when I experience Star Wars with my kids. It is harder to enjoy Star Wars when I watch it for my own enjoyment.

My kids aren't quite old enough for Mandalorian and Grogu and I think it will be the first Star Wars movie that came out in a theater in my life time that I won't see in the theater.

I have liked the Maul show, but I kinda feel like it is kinda pointless, because we know what happens to Maul? But objectively, it tells a good story.

Feels like Prinze has forgotten he's cashed a couple Star Wars checks.

Ok, Maul episodes 9 and especially 10 are fantastic. You just can't beat watching Vadar kick ass. And I know people say there's so much more to Star Wars than Jedis and Siths...but dammit, you just can't beat a well choreographed Jedi/Sith lightsaber fight.

Couple of questions...

1) did we know going into this that Maul gains an apprentice, or is this completely new to Maul's story?

And

2) are the books Master of Evil (about Vadar) and Maul Lockdown any good? I havd them on my reading list, but wondering if they're worth it.

masters of evil is really good and gives a ton of insight into the vader/palps dynamic. I've never Lockdown. Have you read Maul: Shadow Hunter? It's set right before TPM and I feel like some of Shadow Lord was inspired by it.

I kinda forgotten about Star Wars: Starfighter. I think this is exactly what Star Wars needs, a movie with a big star set post Skywalker Saga and hopefully becomes a new launch point for future Star Wars content.

HOLY CRAP! Give me season 2 of Maul!

That whole show was great but the lightsaber fights overall and definitely those last 2 episodes were peak Star Wars! Great stuff!

Surprised how dark they went with the story and animation….lots of deaths and folks getting their guts cooked by light sabers….nice change of pace for the animation
