I liked it. Space western meets gladiator on the big screen. My kids really loved it. Much better than several of the other movies.

So I'm guessing your wife never saw any of the previous Star Wars movies? Severed arms, murdered kids, still-burning skeletal remains all come to mind.

Ok sure.

But Luke wasn't a cute three year old toddler when Kenobi took him in the cantina and after he lopped the arm off the alien he didn't tell Luke "hey little buddy, no more cookies until after dinner".

I mean, it's not like I didn't know what I was getting in to.

Best part of the movie- my kids LOVING Star Wars in th theater.

Otherwise, I was pretty bored the entire time. Jabba's kids voice killed me. It was fine but I found myself ready for it to end.

Yeah the Hut speaking American English for some reason just seemed really weird. I couldn't get past it.

My biggest cringe of the movie was how many times Sigourney Weaver said "the Hutt".

"His name is Rotta the Hutt. He's the son of Jabba the Hutt."
NO **** SIGOURNEY

Interesting. He definitely has that John Wayne gate when he walks.

Wonder how Crowder and Wayne's paychecks compare to Pedro's…especially considering Pedro only worked when the helmet was off for all of 5 minutes and did low emote voice over work…

Just got out of TMAG

12 yo - A
9 yo - A+
7 yo - A
Me - C+

They all liked the Grogu solo scenes the most.

I thought it was alright. For me the Grogu solo scenes dragged a bit. The rest was pretty good. Fight scenes were good. Rotta Pratt's voice (sounded like Chris Pratt to me) was jarring at first but I got used to it - his voice was really good for my 7 yo who isn't the best reader yet (diagnosed dyslexia) and then I didn't have to read all the subtitles for her.

The dragon snake was cool as **** IMO. The mouth having a throwback to the rancor with the way the teeth came out of the lipless flesh and then they were kind of articulated like a hand was creepy as hell.

There were several humorous moments - and I got a kick out of the small frick's ship... haha

The Last Jedi is the only Star Wars movie (not counting Mando and Grogu) that I have only watched once. I keep thinking I should watch it again because there are people who swear it is great movie, but I can bring myself to watch it again. Did anyone here watch Last Jedi and like it more the second time?

I enjoyed TLJ probably more than most, and I feel like on subsequent watches it starts to make more sense.

It's clunky and not especially good (and some of it is just bad), but you start to understand what Rian Johnson was going for. A lot of it didn't work but there's some interesting ideas in there, particularly that all these shades of gray exist in a world that's always been clearly differentiated into light and dark.

The biggest flaw is the lack of a coherent through line from TFA to this to ROTS. And none of my comments excuse the flying.

TLJ was a beautiful movie. Great cinematography, fast paced, some decent dialogue and some really good performances.

It was just… stupid.

Would I have preferred a different interpretation of Luke overall? Yes.

However, given the circumstances, I find the Rey/Luke/Kylo stuff to be genuinely good. Great at times, even. In fact, I think the sequence in the throne room - where Kylo kills Snape, Kylo/Rey fight his guards, and then Kylo tries to convince Rey to join forces ("Let the past die," etc) - is the best sequence of the entire sequel trilogy.

All of that said...

- I absolutely cannot stand the Finn/Rose/casino plot line.

- I absolutely cannot stand the Poe/Leia/Holdo plot line.

- Leia as Space Mary Poppins is the worst thing in the entire sequel trilogy (well, maybe second worst compared to Rey Palpatine).

- Luke dying / Leia surviving was incredibly dumb as well, when it should have been the other way around (I maintain that Leia should have been the one to do the "Holdo" maneuver).

So, IMO, all said and done, it's still a bad movie, but I at least find the main through-line to be pretty damn good.

I said this at the time, but we got one of the absolute best actors in the world in Benicio del Toro in a Star Wars movie and what did we get from that? Space Fenster. So aggravating.

How was Jon Favreau allowed to make that abomination of a movie? I thought Solo was awful. This movie was worst and will go down as the worse Star Wars movie ever made. Favreau would have been better off doing a Star Wars movie on Jar Jar Binks, at least we all know what kind of disappointment that movie would have been. Am curious who had on their bingo card Devil Wears Prada 2 earning more money than a Star Wars movie.

Edit: Rogue One was chef's kiss. Why can't someone make another master piece similar to Rogue One. Is it to much to ask for these day.

Laziest screenwriting of all time.

They go all the way to the casino to seek out the only code-breaker in the galaxy who can help them.

Before they can even convince him to help, they get thrown in jail.

Sitting next to them in jail?

The only OTHER code-breaker in the galaxy who can help them! And he does! Until he doesn't!

Just bafflingly, insultingly bad.

I liked it better the second time around, but there are large sections of it I skip when I see it on TV, and that's really saying something for me as a mega fan.

Everything that Finn and Rose do once they leave the ship, I can't stand. The part in the casino feels like it's being played on fast-forward, I can never focus on one thing.
The slow-motion car chase between Snoke's fleet and the last Resistance ship is beyond stupid. The First Order can't call some faster ships to come help out?

I really have grown to love the ReyLuke stuff, other than Rey's weird film school senior project with the finger snapping in the cave. While I hate that Luke is a bitter dude, II know from previous reading that this interpretation is very true to Lucas's original vision of Obi-Wan from ANH; bitter, broken down, living in self-imposed exile, even the metal hand.

Whole family went tonight. I think my wife had the best response. She said afterwards that she had no idea what the movie was trying to be. She clarified further that there was too much violence/death for it to be a little kid movie and at the same time it was packed with little kid stuff start to finish. Disclaimer, she's never seen prior any of the D+ SW series.

IMO, with the big exception to Andor, she basically described all the D+ SW series.

Didn't like it. Didn't hate it. The best I can say is that the gladiator combat scene in the arena made to look like the game played on Falcon back in 77, even with the same monsters, was pretty darn cool.

Same body slam and pose too!
